GETTING BACK TO BASICS

We have seen the political atmosphere in America change over the last fifty years from one of conservative in both parties to far left in the Democrat Party to midstream for the Republican Party. Most of this can be attributed to the left leaning colleges and universities in America. This is a major shift from the founding of these colleges and universities. To the surprise of many of you, these stats will complete news to you. In 1860 262 out or 288 college presidents were Ministers of the Gospel; over one third of the faculty were Ministers of the Gospel. In 1890 in a Survey of State Universities conducted by James Angell (President of the University of Vermont and the University of Michigan) found that over 90% of State universities had chapel services and in 50% the chapel services were compulsory and 25% required church attendance as well as the chapel attendance. By 1860 95% of our colleges and universities were under the direction of the church. In most churches today a student with religious views and conservative ideas will be mocked, ridiculed and in many instances kick out of the school for those conservative ideas. Recently a college counseling student was kicked out of school because she wouldn’t counsel a homosexual in dealing with homosexuality because of her religious beliefs concerning homosexuality. She was removed from the course and not allowed to continue unless she took some kind of ‘diversity’ training to deal with her problem. She sued the school and the courts sided with the school stating that the school had the right to require her to violate her religious beliefs.

This is the direction in which we have allowed the schools to go. Most seminaries now days even embrace much of the homosexual agenda and world views. I hear many people crying for a return to conservative values and we need to do that. They want this next election to go from the far left occupiers of political offices we have today to people that hold to the values of the Founding Fathers. I would like to see that too, but I don’t think George Washington could win an election today. Just like it took five years for you to gain 35 pounds, you’re not going to lose it in a week. It is going to take time and to get back to the values of the Founders it is going to take some time. It will have to be gradual because the mindset in too many people today is that of a socialistic society. That mindset has to be reversed and it will take time.

I would love to have a perfect candidate run for office. But that won’t happen. Every candidate will have faults. Some more than others. Candidates like Ron Paul have to be taken completely off of the table. His stance against Israel is not tolerable and outweighs any of his good points, which are few at best. Romney has his problems, but he is better than Obama. Newt has his baggage too, but he is better than Obama. Santorum isn’t perfect by any means. He is a big government guy and our government is too big now. He is shaky on the 2nd Amendment, but he is better than Obama. Ron Paul, in my opinion is no better than Obama in the overall picture.

There are many people that state that if Romney wins the nomination they will vote third party. They may as well vote for Obama then. We have one mission in 2012 and that is to remove Obama from office and that will take a concentrated effort from the Republican Party to do so. Not every Democrat wanted Obama but they wanted the Republicans out of office bad enough that they rallied behind the nominee. The Republicans must do the same thing in 2012 to remove Obama. The Republican nominee may not be your ideal candidate, but he will be better than Obama. America is not a three party nation. Ross Perot lost the election for Bush 41 and helped elect Clinton in ’92. Any major third party run in 2012 will do nothing but ensure that we will be stuck with 4 more years of Obama socialism, income redistribution and excessive spending and his weakening of America militarily, economically and every other way.

We have to realize that the return to the values that built America into the greatest nation this world has ever seen will take more than one election. It took 50 years to get where we are and it will take several elections to get back and it will take the American people getting back involved in our political process. We are going to have to pay attention to what Washington is doing. Stop watching ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC and all of the rest of the left stream media. Use the internet to find out the truth. I began to do this about 9 years ago and was astonished at what the MSM and Washington was NOT telling us. I started an internet news letter called The American Intelligence Briefing and began sending it out to friends and family. A lot of them originally thought I was making most of the information up until what I was telling tell was exposed to them from other sources. Now I send out The American Intelligence Briefing to over 500 people who forward it to many others and do two radio programs a week exposing what Washington is doing to our rights and our Constitution using the information in the Briefing.

We all have to do our part. We vote party lines without checking the character of the people running for office. Reverend Samuel Langdon, was a American Congregational clergyman and educator. After serving as pastor in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, he was appointed president of Harvard University in 1774 made this statement concerning those who we elect: "Fix your eyes upon men of good understanding and known honesty; men of knowledge, improved by experience; men who fear God and hate covetousness; who love truth and righteousness, and sincerely wish the public welfare.” John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court made this statement: "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest, of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers."(Emphasis mine) We no longer do this.

We no longer look for men “who fear God and hate covetousness; who love truth and righteousness, and sincerely wish the public welfare.” And we no longer prefer Christians for our rulers. Most of who are elected concentrate on their next election and don’t pay much attention to the people. This is why we have allowed almost 70 members of Congress from the Democrat Socialists of America to be put into the House of Representatives. One member, Pete Stark from California stated on video that they pay no attention to the Constitution when they write laws. That should have been grounds for impeachment. The people of California have done nothing.

We were able to remove a few of the socialists in the 2010 election. Some are not running for reelection, Barney Frank for one, but we must remove all of them to begin to get America back to her foundation. Here are some of the other socialists in Congress: Sheila Jackson-Lee, TX; Dennis Kucinich, OH; Bernie Sanders, VT; Tammy Baldwin, WI; John Conyers, MI; Peter DeFazio, OR; Luis Gutierrez, IL; Alcee Hastings, FL; Jesse Jackson, Jr, IL; Jim McDermott, WA; Jared Polis, CO; Charles Rangel, NY; Maxine Waters, CA; Henry Waxman, CA.

There are eleven from the state of California. We can see that the mindset of that state is bent on socialism. Jared Polis from Colorado is an open homosexual as is Barney Frank and a few others. None of these people should have been allowed to be elected. None of them “who fear God and hate covetousness; who love truth and righteousness, and sincerely wish the public welfare.” No one within the Democrat Socialists of America should have been put into office, but because in the inattentiveness of the voters, they are in there. Daniel Webster voiced his concern stating: “There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our overthrow. Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter: from the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence. I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men and become the instruments of their own undoing.” (Emphasis mine)

Will we continue our trend towards socialism or will we tell them no more? Are we going to take our nation back or will we let those that want to ‘reform’ America into a European welfare state and lose the greatness our Founders spent their treasure and blood to attain? I will not sit still and do nothing and there are many others who have been wakened by the sudden exposure of those in office to socialize America. The OWS participants are those that want a hand out. They are too lazy to work and they want to share the fruits of the labor of those that do work. In one of the recent Briefings I included a forward that I received in an email that is profound at the least.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and all applicable to the American experiment:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Our Founders did not form a nation with the intent for the government to be a nanny to the people. They believed that a man deserved to keep most of what he earned. They believed that the reward for honest, hard work was prosperity and worth the effort. Yes, they believed in charity, but not hand outs for those too lazy to work.

It is 2012, will we finish the road to socialism or return to the basics that made America great?
