WHY WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND POLITICS
By
Pastor Roger Anghis "If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discernment, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in Christianity, the pulpit is responsible for it. If satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it." — Rev. Charles Finney This warning from Reverend Charles Finney has come to pass in America today. There is a massive decay of conscience in today’s society. People do not care about anything but themselves. They are self-centered and their world must revolve around them or they will fall into depression. This is seen even in the church where we are supposed to be the light of the world show God’s love and concern for our fellow man. We no longer seem to be concerned about hurting someone else. If we get ahead, then that’s OK. Growing up in the 1950’s people were much different. I can remember when most people never even locked their door when they left for the weekend! Today we have to have security systems, locks for locks. And as Reverend Finney stated, it is the pulpits fault. Our public press will no longer report the real news. They report only what they want you to know and many times it is not the truth at all. During the 2008 presidential election no major newspaper reported on Obama’s lack of a proper birth certificate. No major newspaper researched the meaning of ‘natural born citizen’ spoken on in our Constitution as the requirement for the office of the President. Four US Supreme Court decisions declared that common law that which our judicial system is based on, defines a natural born citizen as one that at the time of their birth, both parents were citizens. That disqualifies Obama on Constitutional grounds. That also disqualifies Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Bobby Jindal. No paper will bring this up as it will expose them to their failure to expose Obama. Today’s newspapers will only report certain crimes and many of them are not reported correctly. They will report white on black crime but not black on white crime even though it is substantially higher. They won’t even report black on black crime. It doesn’t fit their narrative. When this nation was founded our Founders demanded that the press report the truth. Today the government has been exposed as telling Main Stream Media what to report and what not to report. The Founders demanded a free press so that truth would be told. But today’s churches don’t speak of this breach of public trust. Churches themselves won’t even speak the truth about current events. Reverend Finney was correct, it is the pulpits fault. Today’s church is hard to differentiate from the world. There are just as many people in the church that are living together without the benefit of marriage as there are in the world. The divorce rate is the same in the church as it is in the world. Addictions are seen in the church as much as in the world. Abortions are almost as common in the church as in the world. The view of homosexuality is almost as favorable in the church as it is in the world. There are fewer denominations opposing homosexual marriage that those that support it. Some denominations have allowed a practicing homosexual as a senior pastor before the Supreme Court ruling allowing for homosexual marriage and that is like having a known adulterer or fornicator as a senior pastor. Reverend Finney was right, “If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it.” There has been talk that islam is the fastest growing religion but I have also heard that there has been over the last ten years a flood of muslims converting to Christianity and the mullahs can’t find an answer to it. What I do know is that the churches in America have become weak. They no longer preach the true gospel. They are more worried about numbers than souls. The more a pastor is concerned about ‘growth’ the less they seem to care about souls. The churches that do what God said to do, make disciples of men seem to grow more because when we do what God called us to do we prosper. Matthew 25:34 “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: (35) For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: (36) Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.” If it is all about numbers, there is no anointing. If there is no anointing, there is no Holy Spirit. If there is no Holy Spirit there are no signs, wonders and miracles. If there are no signs, wonders and miracles all you have is a social club. Reverend Finney’s words ring loud: If the world loses its interest in Christianity, the pulpit is responsible for it. The laws of this great nation have taken a turn that the Founders would never have allowed. The redefinition of the 1st Amendment in 1947 was the start of a fast track to remove God from all public view. From that moment on divorce began to rise, violence in schools became more prominent, out of wedlock births began to rise, drug use became common among our youth. Prayer was taken out of schools, bibles became contraband in an institution that was number one in the world in America at that time and we are now 26th of 30 nations. There are third world nations with better education systems that we now have. We lead the world in persons imprisoned. I believe that China is the only nation that has more abortions than we do, but theirs are forced, ours are voluntary. We now are forced by the Court to accept homosexual marriage and there is talk that is churches refuse to do a homosexual marriage could lose their tax exempt status. A child can ‘divorce’ his parents for almost any reason. A girl in junior high can’t get an aspirin without parental approval but can get an abortion without her parents knowing. Children are not allowed to see the Ten Commandments in a school because they might “read, contemplate and obey them.”[1], [2], [3] Our Founders began an education system because they knew that most corruption in politics was because people did not know the Word of God and therefore did not know when those in authority were violating God’s principles. The Founders put God in the foundation of our schools but we have taken Him out. Again Reverend Finney’s words ring true: “If satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it.” The foundation of this nation is crumbling before our eyes yet most people can’t see it. They are so preoccupied with everything in their lives they can’t see what is happening. I always hear: “That can’t happen in America” and I used to believe it myself. But then one day I woke up and began to see what is going on. We have a two Party system but it has become nothing more than a two headed snake looking at a baby chick. We are the chick. I’ve heard preached say that it doesn’t make any difference who’s in office, God’s still on the throne.
They are right that God is still on the throne but it makes a major difference who is in office. FDR kept America and the world in a depression for 10 years, Calvin Coolidge experienced the same economic meltdown but in 18 months it was over and the economy was booming and employment was low. The church is supposed to raise up those that are put into positions of authority but the church today backs away from that responsibility and we are now paying for it with the most ungodly man to ever set in that office. Even Jimmy Carter, even though he claims to be a Christian, has been against Israel at least since the 1970’s. Reverend Finney’s warning has been ignored. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it. It will only be the church that will save America.
