GLENN BECK'S AUGUST 28 SURPRISE

By Betty Freauf

With the exception of Glenn Beck wanting a miracle on August 28th at the Lincoln Memorial, I haven’t heard him give any specific details except I think it has something to do with Civil Rights Leader Martin Luther King. However, I suspect the enemies of our country who have been working diligently for years to destroy our sovereignty are meeting quietly strategizing how to dissuade people from attending by using FEAR. “F” is for False, “E” is for Evidence, “A” is for Appears and “R” is for Real. Yes, FEAR is false evidence that appears real when used by bullies who intimidate.

Conservative radio talk shows and FOX cable television hosts have had the enemies of our Republic on the ropes lately and paranoia is definitely alive and well on the left. They are beginning to blame and snipe at each other. The one thing I failed to mention in my last article is that the liberal talk show host out of the San Francisco is also calling for the resignation of what he considers the worst presidential press secretary ever – Robert Gibbs.

Shortly after Obama was elected, Andrew Breitbart and his two young assistants exposed how Obama’s community organizing group called ACORN could be used for an alleged prostitution business. And now Breitbart can be credited for releasing a taped snippet of Sherrod addressing the NAACP that caused a firestorm in the Obama administration and her immediate firing from the Department of Agriculture. Thanks to another research friend, I have received additional information about Shirley Sherrod that the mainline media prefers to ignore.

Why are these left-wing folks so fearful of Sarah Palin, a little traditional mother and housewife before getting elected to her Alaskan hometown as mayor, later Alaskan governor and then vice presidential candidate on the McCain ticket in 2008 and now a grandma? Why do these scoundrels use airwave barbs and the press to try to embarrass her but failed to vet the president of the U.S.? Like Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona, she simply ignores them and continues to encourage great crowd turnouts at Tea Party events with grassroots folks who are simply fed up with big government and all its unconstitutional regulators who want nothing more than to control our lives from the womb to the tomb.

A Biblical researcher friend said when she heard the August 28 date, she thought of Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Joshua at Jericho came to my mind. Glen promotes peace. He knows violence would hurt the conservative cause but I’m sure the secret service and police in Washington, D.C. are bracing for the arrival of many to their city. Glenn has been explaining the difference between individual salvation and collective salvation – Liberation Theology where people look to government for salvation and must become dependent on it. A caller to the Rush Limbaugh show said he and his wife, both college grads, had their immigration application turned down because they had no debt and were not disabled. Glenn encourages religious leaders to attend on August 28. Is he planning a simple march around the Capitol or maybe even seven times around the Lincoln Memorial as an example of what Joshua did at Jericho?

Due to age, finances, health and work, there will be millions of others who will not be able to attend but Romans 8:27 says: “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” And prayer is exactly what will be taking place back home for those who dare to boldly attend on August 28.

God can use whatever and whomever he wishes to accomplish His will so I in no way wish to imply that all religious leaders are donkies, but I am reminded of how in Numbers 22:15-41 God used Balaam’s ass to speak to him when he was disobedient. Using commentary from Pastor J. Vernon McGee (who died in 1988) but still has a radio ministry, McGee says Balaam is one of those enigmatic and mysterious Biblical characters who is hard to evaluate. Each time in the New Testament where he is mentioned, it is in connection with apostasy. Some saw him very strange. Some saw him as a genuine prophet of God. Others say he was a religious racketeer. McGee asks, “Is Balaam sincerely seeking to serve God or is he a fake, a phony?” How many ask that question about Glenn Beck? Many ask that about today’s religious leaders? Some may even ask about us.

So will God use our religious leaders who are often divided over doctrine to walk arm and arm against tyrants who have become deeply entrenched in our government? The religious leaders may not all be born again Christians as described in John 3:3 and even may deny the deity of Christ (II John) but they do believe in a creator God.

Joshua put the Israelite religious leaders out in front. When they came to the gates of Jericho, the guards expected them to break down the gates but they marched right past the gates and kept on marching…on day one, two, three, four, five and six. If something like this happens in Washington, D.C. at the Lincoln Memorial, can you imagine how frantic that is going to make not only the police and Secret Service but all those many evil arrogant traitors of power in Congress and the U.S. Senate steeped in corruption for so many years, breaking laws which would put the rest of in jail and then escaping any type of punishment? It’s a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God and hopefully they’ll be getting a little worried that the wrath of God may be coming down around their rotten little necks.

Will the National Guard be “on call” to help calm the waters and will there be sharp shooters on the rooftops? Airspace over the Capitol will be forbidden. The authorities at Jericho must have become frantic wondering what the Israelites might do next. McGee helps me tell the story that on the sixth day after Israel had gone one more time, the General’s staff heaved a sigh of relief and said, “It sure looks like they’re not going to take the city. They are all just doing something very crazy.”

From the world’s viewpoint, it was very crazy but the media has long labeled Glenn Beck as a crazy buffoon and a bit mysterious like Balaam so he’s got the attention of the perverts on the Potomac on August 28. But McGee says, “Wait a minute. This time the Israelites weren’t returning to their camps as they’d done on other days. They were starting to march again – a seventh time. Then the religious leaders of Israel blew the trumpets, the people shouted and the wall of Jericho fell down! They were marching around according to the order given not by Joshua but by that unseen Captain of the host of the Lord! Is this just a silly story in the Bible as skeptics would infer? Archaeological excavations pretty well establish this was an actual event.

Joshua was a proven military leader so why would he use what seemed to be a ridiculous tactic such as these marches? In Joshua 5:13-15 he saw a man with a drawn sword standing at the edge of the Israelite camp. Joshua’s question was ”…Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?” (Joshua 5:13) In our language he would probably have asked, ”What's the big idea? Who gave you an order to draw a sword?’” Joshua thought he was in charge. But when the man turned and answered, Joshua realized He was a supernatural person. McGee personally believes He was none other than the preincarnate Christ and Joshua fell at His feet and worshipped Him. Jesus is our lifeboat. He was the lifeline that saved Glenn from his alcoholism and Glenn appreciates this fact as do all other sinners saved by grace.

McGee goes on to explain before the battle of Jericho this man Joshua learned he was not really in charge. General Headquarters was not in his tent but in heaven with the Captain of the host of the Lord, for that is how the Stranger identified Himself, “…Nay, but as Captain of the host of the Lord am I now come…” (Joshua 5:14) (Psalm 46:11)

In other words, the Lord was telling Joshua, “This battle you are fighting is a spiritual battle as well as a physical one and I’m the Captain who said ‘March Around the City.’” Granted Joshua probably thought it was crazy too but any buck private in the military never talks back to a Captain. He doesn’t argue, he just says, “Yes, Sir!”

Then McGee tells a story when he was in the National Guard some fellows got into trouble by slipping out during the night. The next day, the Captain gave them an order to dig a hole. He said, “I want this hole six feet long, three feet wide and five feet deep.” The fellows dug the hole and then reported to the Captain who looked at the hole and said, “Now, I want you to fill it back up with the dirt.” That sounds crazy but they had to obey orders! Joshua was simply obeying orders. He was being obedient.

He believed the Captain. Hebrews 11:30 tells us, “By faith the walls of Jericho fell down…”

While Beck refers to faith and often tells us to pray for the best but expect the worst, I am in no way suggesting that Glenn Beck is Joshua in supernatural form and the idea for an August 28th gathering in Washington is a “Jericho” type of event. Glenn himself would disclaim such a silly thought but only time will tell if the outcome of this event will have some spiritual implications. Glenn quotes Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God.” He admits a couple years ago he knew nothing about such political battles. He was a drunk and a radio jock. However, in the meantime, God had other warriors in the trenches calling out the warnings through their little newspapers and newsletters and they were prepared to teach Glenn about our government and its workings.

Guests on his show like David Barton of Wallbuilders have been instrumental in giving Glenn a crash course and I’m sure anonymous sources have sent him books and other information that Glenn knew nothing about but has devoured. Because he is such an avid reader perhaps this is why he is having eye trouble. Many Americans have been lulled to sleep with materialism, entertainment and other distractions so apostasy settled in and the Devil gets concerned when people are awakened. God allowed Satan to test Job any way he’d like to see if his faith was sincere but he couldn’t kill him and all sorts of terrible things happened to Job. Even Job’s friends went on the attack.

The lesson about Joshua and Jericho for today is that we cannot overcome the world by fighting it. Although he had the army, Joshua’s business was not to fight. His business was to trust and believe God.

On the day I was drafting this article there were reports about trouble in the Middle East and a self-proclaimed gay judge overturned the will of the seven million California voters regarding same-sex marriages. Will California fall into the ocean? Is another great earthquake on the horizon for California? Could an asteroid fall on the Washington, D.C. Capitol on August 28th? Could unexplained solar flares in the Heavens cause great problems for the electronics and computer systems, which, of course, are the basis of the world financial system? In Joshua 10:13, the sun stood still for 24 hours. In order to put a man in space, NASA had to take those 24 hours into consideration in its calculations. If any of these events happen, I suppose someone will blame the Tea Party folks but maybe, just maybe, it will be God saying, “I’ve had it. Enough is Enough.”
