A DIVIDED AMERICA: THE BIG LIE

Divide and conquer. It is the oldest trick in the book.

Any military leader worth his salt will tell you it is the safest way to victory. Split the enemy forces and you can overrun them like the Indians at Little Big Horn.

Jesus even mentioned it in Mathew 12:25 Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.

America is divided, but not in the way they would like you to think.

How can that be, Coach? you ask. Ted Kennedy says were divided. So do Arlen Specter, Dick Durbin, Chris Mathews, and all of the polls. The news outlets are talking about Sandra Day OConnors replacement and how much America needs a justice that will unite the country. To hear them talk, America is about to break apart.

Dont you believe it! It is all an attempt to conquer us, We The People, in order to maintain power. There is a division in America, but this is not the 50-50 nation the voting might indicate.

Politics in America is all about separation. Young versus old, black versus white, rich versus poor, Republicans, Democrats, conservatives, liberals, moderates, left wing, right wing. Pick your label, since there is one for everyone. The politicos talk about your hot-button issue, put you in your box, and turn you against your neighbor. They know that if we are ever able to climb out of the boxes that they have put us in, then THEY will lose control.

But who is THEY, you might ask? It is an insidious combination of power elites who spend their time creating diversions (issues) designed to get us to take our eye off of the ball. Like an elementary school teacher at recess, they number us one, two, three, four, and then direct us toward the boxes, into which we dutifully march.

It is a battle of containment, modern America. Maybe it is time we ask ourselves a question. Why are they trying to divide us, and how did I get stuck in this box?

Most Americans are moral. They may not always DO what is right, but they KNOW what is right. We all share a common sense of decency. Respect people, help your neighbor, live and let live. Americans believe in right and wrong, even though they may not practice it.

One of my friends, Jerry, is a white union Democrat. He wears a huntin cap and has a bumper sticker on his pickup that says God Bless America. He loves his guns, thinks gay marriage is wrong, hates the overreaching arm of the government, and the welfare mentality. But his union tells him that big business is ruining America. So he works to elect Hillary, even though he doesnt like bossy women, because he has been told by the union elite that the Democrats are for the little guy.

Another of my golfing buddies is a black man. Carl is a great guy who earned all he has through hard work. He is an elder in his church, and home educates his kids. He thinks abortion is wrong, knows blacks are slaves to government programs, and is worried about what his children watch on TV. Even though Carl has made it, he sees many of his people who havent. He is just looking for a level playing field. But Jesse Jackson tells him that the white man has caused all the problems in black America. So he votes Democratic, even though, outside of his color, he has very little in common with Jackson.

Jerry and Carl are my friends. We think alike, raise our families the same way, and believe the best about people. But when we cast our votes we focus on different issues. Jerry is worried about jobs, Carl is worried about racism. I worry about life issues. Good men, good hearts, stuck in a box someone put us in.

We may disagree on the war in Iraq, NAFTA, CAFTA, and the Patriot Act, but we all agree the borders should be closed, our kids should be able to go to school without learning about the way some folks choose to have sex, Christmas should not be illegal, taxes are too high, and that O. J. Simpson was guilty.

Our leaders cannot destroy America. Only we can do that. A house divided against itself cannot stand

You see, Jerry cant stand Ted Kennedy. His best friend from childhood is serving time for killing a girl while driving drunk. Only the rich win in court, Jerry says, obviously resenting the rich mans justice.

Yet Ted Kennedy, a millionaire from Boston, and Diane Feinstein, a millionaire from California, claim to speak for Jerry. They are both Democrats, and we all know that John Kerry got more votes than any Democrat in history, so that proves America is divided. But Jerry voted Democratic because his union said it would be good for jobs. Now Ted Kennedy and Diane Feinstein want to use Jerrys vote to allow under God to be stripped from the Pledge and homosexuals to lead the boy scouts.

Diane Feinstein and Ted Kennedy are about as mainstream as homosexual cowboys.

So now we are engaged in a fight over Samuel Alito. They tell us it is a fight between Republicans and Democrats, liberals and conservatives. But they are lying. It is not between right and left. It is a fight between THEM and We The People.

As I have watched the Alito confirmation hearings the past few days, I have been struck by the rhetoric used by those who oppose his nomination. Extremist, far-right, fundamentalist, anti-woman, anti-choice rattle off the tongues of men without chests. Out of the mainstream, they bloviate in unison.

Mainstream America? Do you really believe that anyone in Washington even recognizes, let alone, represents, mainstream values?

The war for America is real and most Americans are too busy fighting through life to pay attention. The Republicrats know that. They are fighting for themselves, for their power, for their perks. They know that most of us are voting based on 30-second sound bites. Like a high school senior in the spring, the politicians know that we really arent paying much attention.

You see, Americas elite are divided, but the American people arent. They just tell us we are. Don't believe everything you hear!

In a nation where decisions are driven by the latest poll, the elitists use the polls to make their point. Thats why Ted Kennedy thinks he speaks for Jerry. Thats why Jerry lets him. Want to take a real poll? Try visiting these typically Democratic venues and see how many agree with Ted Kennedy.

  • Go to the local bar and ask Joe Six-Pack what he thinks about same-sex marriage.
  • Visit the local VFW and survey the vets on flag burning.
  • Poll the boys at the factory and ask them about welfare benefits.
  • Go to the local American Legion and ask them about gays in the Boy Scouts.
  • Attend a rodeo or a country music concert and try to sell tickets to Brokeback Mountain.
  • Visit the local pool hall and ask them if they would like to be married to Hillary.
  • And dont ask any of them if a woman should have a right to chooseask them if they think their daughter should abort their grandchild.

There is a division in America, but it is not the one they are trying to sell us. On one side sits a cabal consisting of the Hollywood crowd, the educational elite, the media, and the union leadership. On the other side, happily sitting in our boxes, is mainstream America.

None of the great moral issues of the day have ever been voted on by the people. The elitists have used the courts to ram a new America down our throats. If our elected officials really want to represent our values, why dont they let us determine what those values are? How about letting the people vote on:

  • Gay "marriage"
  • Posting the 10 Commandments in government buildings
  • Prayer in schools
  • Teaching of creationism
  • Affirmative action
  • Killing of unborn children
  • Government seizure of private property
  • Burning the American flag
  • Illegal immigration
  • Child porn

If these issues were put up for a vote, Jerry, Carl and I--mainstream America--would be on the same side.

Can America be saved? I dont know. But this idea that ALL Republicans have family values, ALL Democrats are anti-God, and our elected officials are looking out for us has gotten us where we are today.

What a novel idea. No, my friends, Americans are not divided. We just think we are.

We must resist the brainwashing
