KATRINA, JUST SOME THOUGHTS

Last Thursday, 3 days after the hurricane hit, we were on the ground in Mississippi. Living up to our name, the Minutemen www.minutemenunited.org, we were 1st responders all of the way from Ohio, offering a Christian response to the ravages of the storm. The storm was catastrophic, the needs, overwhelming, the team-work, encouraging.

As you read this, we will once again be in New Orleans feeding the hungry, clothing, the naked, giving water to the thirsty, and bringing hope to the disheartened.

Living out the Gospel.

Fourteen hours in a truck gives one time to think. Here are a few of my observations over the past 2 weeks.

The City of New Orleans is America�s cesspool. Much of Central US dumps into the Mississippi River, which dumps into New Orleans, and the septic tank is full.

Katrina is German for Katherine which means �Cleansing or pure�.

Where do I donate to the ACLU relief fund?

Forget about the Iraq war�it is time to end the war on poverty. The fruit of the forty year war is murder, thuggery, looting, and government dependency.

We must once again punish, not make excuses for, criminals.

Christians no longer fear God�which is the beginning of wisdom.

The last thing many of those folks need is a government debit card.

Maybe I missed it. Did anyone see truck loads of supplies from the atheist�s organizations?

A good leader will inspire his troops to be more than they thought they could be�To take what you have and develop it�overcome bad circumstances with hard work�to not blame others for your situation� America needs leadership.

Jesse Jackson is a lousy leader. American race-profiteers are frauds. Our inner cities are their fruit. The looters are their teams.

The Government schools in America do not need more money. They need more morality.

Mother Nature is the world�s worst environmentalist.

As the city dumps their toxic bilge into Lake Ponchartrain isn�t the EPA strangely silent?

FEMA is nothing more than a jobs program for retired policemen and bureaucrats.

It is time to resurrect the old idea of local Civil Defense.

God has more disaster than the Feds have relief.

The American Red Cross is a code word for government relief agency.

I will never give another nickel to the American Red Cross.

The Democratic voting base in New Orleans is gone.

Republicans are empty suits. 10 years in power�.�if only we can get John Roberts on the court� things will get better�.so they say.

The abortion clinics in New Orleans are closed today.

It is always somebody else�s fault.

In life we get our significance from our jobs and the things we possess. Millions now have neither.

The Church must stop co-existing with evil.

Four guys in a rented truck can get food from Ohio to Mississippi faster than FEMA, Red Cross, Salvation Army, and the United Way. No overhead, no salaries, no press-conferences.

Ivan, which just missed New Orleans last years, is Russian for John, which means �God is Gracious�. And He is.

In the past 100 years nothing has given the church a greater opportunity to share the Gospel than hurricane Katrina.

All the things we work to accumulate are meaningless. Only people matter.

Only spiritual revival can save America.

What would happen if a major earthquake hit Los Angeles next week? How about a dirty bomb? Send your donations to�..

This is not the last disaster we will see.

The American dollar has no value. Free debit cards from an already bankrupt Federal Government.

Millions of unpaid mortgages, auto loans, credit cards, gas bills, electric bills, phone bills are overdue. Can we expect all the companies to forgive those payments and stay in business?

Suddenly Greta is not so worried about Natalie Holloway.

Our enemies are watching�.and laughing.

A typical government response�another commission to study what went wrong�results due in January.

The churches in America saved millions in the south. How come no one is screaming about the separation of church and state now? Why don�t they tell us to keep our morality to ourselves?

Thousands have lost jobs, and now must fight thousands of illegal aliens for new ones.

Most conservative radio talkers are shills for the Republicans.

Christians want God�s people to help the displaced�the God-haters think Government IS God.

Government wants more government.

John F. Kennedy would not recognize America.

If I was stuck 5 days on a roof-top without food or what, I know what I�d do. Swim.

The media promotes racism. The average white family, and the average black family care and respect each other.

One definition of ignorance is �continuing to do the same thing and expecting a different result�.

Let�s give old-fashioned morality another chance.

The DARE program doesn�t work.

Rather than worrying about public smoking bans we would be better off giving inner-city residents swimming lessons.

God is not an American. He�s not even a Republican.

You aren�t a man because you can make a baby, you are a man when you can raise one.

Is Joel O�Steen going to open his big new church and allow evacuees to stay there?

Barney Fife and Gomer Pyle could have done better than Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco.

I can�t count on anyone but God for my protection.

Sin has collateral damage.

Americans are generous.

Government is not God�.despite what they are trying to make us believe.

We�re heading back to Katrina-land We could use your help. We�re not as big as the Red Cross, as powerful as FEMA, or as well funded as The United Way, but we have $3 million in supplies on the way to New Orleans to meet us. We will hand out the food for the body as well as food for the soul. Can you trust a huge bureaucracy to do that?
