In mid-November at the request of my friends Dr. Eugene Schroder and Ed Petrowsky, I traveled to Campo, Colorado, to investigate the latest attempt by the federal government to run thousands of Americans off their land for no valid reason. I have known Gene for more than a decade. He's a veterinarian, rancher, constitutionalist and right along with Ed and so many others, have been fighting the federal government most of their adult lives for the God given right to ranch, farm and be left alone by the federal machine. Most Americans and I say this from entering my 17th year of activism, most Americans have no clue about the plight of America's ranchers and farmers. All they know is run down to the nearest grocery store, junk "fast food" joint or restaurant and there's all the food they can afford to eat. Few have any knowledge of how it gets there and quite frankly, I don't believe most even care, just as long as its there.
Many years ago, Larry Becraft and I were involved with Gene and others regarding 'parity' for agriculture; see here. Where is the RIGHT to the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness when the federal government is out to destroy you and everything you hold dear? Again, I cannot stress strongly enough that the war against our farmers and ranchers is very real and we simply cannot allow any more of them to be destroyed by a corrupt government who no longer serve we the people, but rather global interests and lust for power. How many Americans remember the American Agricultural Movement of the 70s and how the farmers fought so hard for parity and the right to just survive? How many Americans remember the grotesque Klamath Falls destruction by your government? How many Americans remember the Utah's Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument land grab under Marxist Bill Clinton? How many Americans know anything about what Monsanto is doing to farmers and ranchers in America who refer to that company as "MonSatan"? How many Americans know how many of our fellow Americans in the noble profession of farming have been run off the land by one corrupt state and federal government after another, further destroying our greatest and most important industry: food production? I will tell you: not enough and it is through this apathy, indifference and lack of interest that those out to destroy our constitutional republic have gained so much ground. Too many Americans represent the voices of America's destruction because their voices are raised only at football games, on the ski slopes, at the local watering hole or at some other "leisure" activity.
Right now our fellow Americans in Southeastern Colorado face losing their homes, their land and their way of life. The U.S. Army is seeking to take over THE ENTIRE SOUTHEASTERN CORNER OF COLORADO to expand their training facility called Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site (PCMS). We are already talking about the Army controlling a monstrous amount of land owned by the Department of Defense: over 25 million acres; the Army has more than fifteen million of those twenty five and they simply do NOT need more. As it so happens, my husband's last duty assignment was DEH (Director of Engineering and Housing) at Ft. Carson, Colorado; he is a retired U.S. Army Colonel. We are very familiar with that facility and it's other training location at the Southeastern part of the state in the Pinion Canyon area.
Over the years, the Colorado State Legislature has been so foolish to sign over most of that state to the United States. You can see how much land the feds have acquired within the sovereign states of the Union here. Most Americans don't know why all of this is happening. However, millions of us do understand the real agenda: sustainable development which means running Americans off the land, forcing them into the big inner cities under tighter control by the paramilitarized local law enforcement and implementation of an "interdependent" world government. Those who scoff at this statement have not done the research I have for 17 long years or seen the misery I have each and every time I cover one of these "events." This government is at war with the common man and anyone who simply wants to fluff that off because they didn't read it in their local paper is someone who chooses to deny reality because they think it won't affect them. Coloradans must wake up or simply give up your state hood to the federal government. It has come down to that.
After my visit with Gene, his lovely wife and Ed, I drove from Campo to the Army's Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site, some ninety miles (made possible by your generous donations). The entire drive from Hwy 160 to 350 - every piece of property along that route had huge signs which read: This land NOT for sale to the Army. This is the same cry for help I saw up in Klamath Falls when the Bush Administration and a Republican controlled Congress allowed the destruction of tens of thousands of families, farmers and ranchers for a junk fish which the federal courts later determined was all just a big mistake; the local economy was impacted by hundreds of millions of dollars. Our fellow Americans in Southeastern Colorado are now facing the same execution and loss of their homes, their land, their way of life.
Our fellow Americans are not going to take this lying down, but they need your help. First, please go to the web site to stop the Pinon Canyon take over; see here. The U.S. Constitution is very specific about the nature of the role between the states and the federal government. Despite the propaganda being taught in the government's indoctrination centers called public schools and corrupt, ignorant public officials like U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales (1), the feds cannot simply walk in and steal land belonging to the states, see Art. 1, Section 8, Clause 17:
"To exercise exclusive legislation in all cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten miles square) as may, by cession of particular states, and the acceptance of Congress, become the seat of the government of the United States, and to exercise like authority over all places purchased by the consent of the legislature of the state in which the same shall be, for the erection of forts, magazines, arsenals, dockyards, and other needful buildings;"
Before the Army can simply take these tens of thousands of acres and destroy more lives, the Colorado State Legislature must agree to this land grab. What if this were your property? Can't happen to you? Ask those who are now losing their homes under the horrific, anti-American decision by the U.S. Supreme Court: Kelo v City of New London. It is happening and it will destroy more and more private land and ruin the hopes and dreams of our fellow Americans. The Pinon Canyon land grab does affect you because it will destroy more valuable and increasingly scarce agriculture acreage. We must NOT let this happen. Our very survival depends on it. No matter how busy your schedule is, and we're all buried in family and work obligations, just think of what will happen to all these good, decent people if we can't find those few extra minutes to tell the Colorado State Legislature and newly elected governor, Bill Ritter, say NO to the Pinon Canyon land grab. On the 'Stop the Pinon Canyon take over' web site is a section titled 'Legislators." In that section is a complete list of who you need to call or send a snail mail letter to in Colorado; sample letters are provided.
If you live in Colorado, please contact the principals at the Pinon Canyon Expansion Coalition on their site above. Call all your friends, send this column to them on your e-mail list. Gene Schroder is an old hand at fighting off the feds and knows how to stop them with enough heat from the citizens of Colorado. He's working with the rest of those fighting to save their land and livelihoods. There will be hearings on this in the legislature and Coloradans need to join in this effort whether you live in Trinidad, Grand Junction, Denver, Pagoda or Ovid. This is your state and you are sovereign. This is your land and you need to help save it. We the people are gaining ground on killing the National ID and the same can be done regarding this land grab, but it won't happen if you don't make that call, send that letter and get involved at whatever level you can. Call your member of the Colorado State Legislature on your lunch hour and tell them NO. This week use the sample letters cited above and get one in the mail to the same lawmakers. Forget e-mail. Snail mail gets read for distribution; a hard copy is better than cyber space which will just spit back a form reply.
Please, America, don't let the same thing happen to these good folks as what happened in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Make that call. Write that letter. Keep the heat on the state house.
(1) On January 18, 2007, the Attorney General for these united states of America proclaimed, "The fact that the Constitution - again, there is no express grant of habeas [corpus] in the Constitution. There is a prohibition against taking it away...." Art. 1, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution reads: "The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it." There are no words to describe such devious and deliberate wordsmithing by the top law enforcement officer at the Department of Justice.
Thomas Eddlem was indeed right when he called Gonzales "Our Soviet Attorney General;" see here. I have been warning about the sovietization of America for more than a decade. Let us pray that the American people turn off stupidity like 'American Idol' and join the millions of us in this fight for our very lives as free men and women.
