When it comes to seeing the ISIS, Boko Haram, and Al Qaeda terrorists for whom they really are, Obama has a rather obvious blind spot. Instead of responding with the full might of this nation to obliterate the terrorists (a response long overdue), he avoids a war footing, relies on a largely ineffectual air campaign, and acts with resolve against our ally Israel and appeasement toward our enemy Iran. In other words, Obama’s world is turned upside down with the United States a victim of Obama’s own self-destructive policies. For those dedicated to opposing terror, Obama is as large an obstacle to victory as the terrorists themselves.

The upshot of this anemic U.S. posture is emboldened aggression by terrorists and by their supporters. Our dedicated enemies mean to bring terror to Westerners and Christians wherever they may be found, including within Europe, Canada, and the United States. As they now train in Mauritania, the President spends another week failing to act.

With massive and overpowering force, for which there can be no limits except those dictated by the assurance of complete destruction, the United States surely has the power to remove this global menace. No other country on earth has that power and, yet, while our self-preservation and reputation in the world are on the line, this President recoils from action, choosing a degree of inaction so profound that it invites the vast expansion of terror all over the world. He is aiding and abetting our enemies by refusing to impose the full measure of justice required to ensure that those who hate us and wish for our deaths are obliterated.

The re-election of Netanyahu bodes well for those who favor intervention to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and to continue an aggressive war against terror. Unlike his political opponent, who was believed to favor Obama’s willingness to coddle Iran (as it develops a nuclear weapon), Netanyahu appreciates that Iran’s quest for the bomb is destabilizing the entire region and hastening the day when terrorists use fissile materials in their attacks on the West. Unlike Obama who should lead the war against terror, Netanyahu may be willing to do what it takes to arrest Iran’s nuclear program before it results in the production of a bomb.

If Iran, a state sponsor of terror, obtains the bomb, the probability that terrorists will acquire fissile materials will increase as well. It is certainly within the realm of Iranian rhetoric and action to provide select terrorists with tactical nuclear weapons or even dirty bombs to be used against Israel and other targets in the West. The logical response of Iran’s Arab neighbors, including Saudi Arabia and Jordan, to this foreseeable development will be to hasten their own efforts to secure a bomb. They are not about to play into Iran’s quest for regional hegemony and exclusive status as the voice of radical Islam to an excitable population in their own countries. Rather, they will most certainly feel obliged to prevent nuclear blackmail by securing their own weapons of mass destruction to offset Iran’s advantage. Netanyahu, for one, foresees this occurrence and seeks allies in the struggle against Iran. Indeed, Netanyahu appears willing to align with Arab neighbors intent on blocking Iran or to go it alone, whichever course is best suited to thwart Iran’s objectives. Unlike his political opponent in the last election, Netanyahu is willing to confront Obama, differ with him publicly, and take a path that will upset the Administration’s talks with Iran, if that is what it takes to stop Iranian nuclear ambitions from coming to full fruition.

Meanwhile, the Administration continues to place faith in Iran to honor its pledge to keep its nuclear program one for civilian uses despite all evidence to the contrary and despite public statements condemning the United States and calling for the death and destruction of all things American. The degree of naivete is extraordinary. While Secretary of State Kerry shakes the hands of his Iranian counterparts, they hold behind their backs figurative daggers, indicative of their true interest in taking down the “Great Satan.” In a clear sign of weakness, the Administration has cut back on sanctions against Iran that had been effective in curbing Iranian ambitions and crippling their economy. The Obama Administration has given Iran the only bargaining chip it had, thereby eliminating any true disincentive for Iran to proceed with full development of a nuclear weapons stockpile.

Congress has the power to refuse complicity with Obama’s foreign policy follies by voting against ratification of any treaty that comes out of it and by approving over a presidential veto legislation to reinstate what was a very successful blockade of Iran, but there appears not enough in Congress willing to go that far. Obama can be expected to take unconstitutional, unilateral action even in the face of Congressional efforts to block him, but at present Congress lacks the resolve.

In short, it appears now inevitable that Iran will acquire a nuclear weapon unless Israel intercedes with military force. Because of Obama, it is Israel, not the United States, that is the last best hope for preventing the war on terror from becoming a war in which terrorists have fissile materials in their arsenal.
