IT'S IMPERATIVE TO BE HONORING GOD

The sign outside the Hawaii Marine Corps reads, “God Bless the military, their families and the civilians who work with them.”

I believe every American would agree and raise a toast to that sentiment. A military that is dedicated to defending the rights of its citizens and that refuses to be used as mercenaries to further the interests of controlling elite is worthy of our prayers and this type of admonition.

Video on this Column:

This is exactly why I believe that the Hawaii Marine Corps had this sign erected on its base. What was meant to strengthen and bolster the morale of self-sacrificing heroes has now become the target of another ingratiating progressive organization of which you will likely be shocked to hear the name.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation is attempting to eliminate this blessing to our troops and acknowledgement of the religion of these United States, or at least marginalize it to a chapel on base.

George Washington was America’s first General of Individual and Religious liberty, whose “General Orders” included the Continental Army to appoint and pay Christian Chaplains in every regiment in hopes “that every officer and man will endeavor to live and act as becomes a Christian soldier defending the dearest rights and liberties of his country.”

After pushing for the words “Under God” to be added to the pledge, another venerated General and President, Dwight D. Eisenhower reflected, “From this day forward, the millions of our school children will daily proclaim in every city and town, every village and rural school house, the dedication of our nation and our people to the Almighty. To anyone who truly loves America, nothing could be more inspiring than to contemplate this rededication of our youth, on each school morning, to our country's true meaning. . . . In this way we are reaffirming the transcendence of religious faith in America's heritage and future; in this way we shall constantly strengthen those spiritual weapons which forever will be our country's most powerful resource, in peace or in war.”

Though I do not believe a pledge to a flag is the best way to propagate liberty, I certainly do not believe the phrase “One Nation Under God” is antithetical to the liberty of Americans.

On Sunday our current Commander in Chief made some statements at the Democratic National Committee LGBT Gala. “We affirm that we cherish our religious freedom and are profoundly respectful of religious traditions,” Obama said. “But we also have to say clearly that our religious freedom doesn’t grant us the freedom to deny our fellow Americans their constitutional rights.”

How do we square Barack’s humanitarian code of conduct with true God-given liberties? True liberty does not give permission to do what God forbids, and we must all realize that liberty cannot be used to remove the standards that Nature’s God required to protect or rights.

I will say it until I am blue in the face, “by going to war against God, or denying His sovereignty over America, you war against the Author and Protector of your right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.”
