THE IRON TRIANGLE

“Imagine the growing regrets, the longing to escape, the powerless disgust, the surrender -- the hate.”[1]

Late in the second week of February, inveterate pollster and focus group huckster, Dr. Frank Luntz made a telling remark. In an exchange with a member of team fair and balanced, a.k.a., the antithesis, Luntz quietly remarked that “75% of polls are made up on the spot.” The revelation went unremarked and unexamined: it sank like a stone in a pond. There it was, for a moment, one of many ugly truths about the directorate’s use of the distraction machine, its ‘objective reporting’ as much as its dazzle numbing the senses, befuddling thought and crushing hopes. Keep this in mind: polls as lying.

The CNN hosted ‘Arizona debate’ February 22 focused an intriguing and destructive alliance, de facto or not. The moderator, Mr. Powderhead served his employers well by all but excluding the two candidates judged by the media to be not ‘serious contenders,’ focusing time and attention on the two ‘front-runners’ (according to the polls); and, above all, by seeking to get these two nags engaged in petty ad hominem debates about their campaigns, experience, adverts, earmarks and contraception. Mitt the frontrunner was in his element and jumped right in, thrusting and parrying; he has a gift for timely repartee and pointed acerbities. He could be an effective Chief Executive, if he chose to be and was allowed to be, -- but to what end? After a slight pause, Senator Santorum acquiesced and engaged in the pie fight, sadly wasting lots of time defending his record in the Senate. The fact that a hostile administration is destroying the nation prior to submerging it in a collectivist world state (“the global economy” is the euphemism) all but disappeared beneath the media and the two front runners in a de facto iron triangle. They will be breathlessly chattering, anointing and distracting again this Tuesday, calling attention to themselves, preening for the cameras, serving their sponsors and the larger entrapment agenda. One can only hope their vanity[2] and profits are in vain.

That reality did not totally disappear was largely the result of former Speaker of the House Gingrich who, when belatedly getting a chance to speak, deftly re-directed the coercive spin of the ‘moderator’s’ infomercial-type questions into ways that address the concerns of most Americans. When Powderhead sought to reduce discussion of illegal immigrants and America’s porous borders to the (supposedly) prohibitive expense of a border fence, Gingrich countered that tactics were not the main point and that most of the expense were caused by Federal regulations. He drew applause by calling for the deployment of half of the Homeland Security personnel in DC to the borders. Perhaps that would help: what is there to police in DC? Gingrich diffused CNN’s attempt to make controlling the border, an essential fact of national integrity, identity and survival, “racist” by noting that most Americans who are Hispanic want immigration to be legal, not illegal.

When Powderhead confronted the long-suffering candidates with an ostensibly genuine question from ‘a citizen’ asking that they each define themselves with one word, the Speaker, after listening to his colleagues serious and bumper-sticker terms, -- “consistent” (at least that’s accurate), “courage” (not an adjective but this was a brain-optional question), and “resolute” (straight from central casting and the committee), smiled and termed himself, “cheerful” deftly alluding to the imbecilic, dating-ad quality of the question and the media-moronic aspect of the ‘debates’ generally.

The comments that addressed the most foundational issue of America’s continuance and renewal were his remarks on Education which re-directed the bloviating of the two ‘major’ candidates (see polls, supra) about “No Child Left Behind,” a typical instance of the Nanny State’s fake compassion and real wish to manipulate and control, by noting that the Federal government had NO role in Education (Ron Paul made this point, too); urging further that State and even municipal governments as well should get out of the ‘education business’ and return responsibility for it to families. As only he does in debates, he used his intelligence (something all but negated by politics and media) in noting that education and teaching are vocations that are DESTROYED by government. The fact is that throughout human history education was the work of tutors hired by families or of kin and friends who had expertise in fields ranging from physics to leather cutting, from astronomy or grammar to milking, sewing and baking and children, most of whom have a ready knack for many skills when demonstrated by those enthusiastic and deft in their practice, can and will learn a remarkable amount. ‘Ordinary’ people and the greatest creators, discoverers and scholars have been taught by tutors. Getting the State OUT of education will enable it actually to occur and transform learning from indoctrination, managing, boredom and drugs to a vital phase of a child’s growth, future success as a human man or woman and citizen and to the regeneration of culture. It will rid education of most political indoctrination. In addition to tutors, and it will not take long for the truly gifted in their fields to appear, getting government out would prompt a flourishing of private schools who will be kept on their toes by excellent privately engaged tutors, not by modeling themselves on public ‘education’ and its Nanny State conditioning. Gingrich also emphasized the key fact that a degree in ‘Education’ is a worthless and pernicious construct of the Nanny State and that Teacher’s Unions are about protecting the managers of this destructive system. He did not but should add that “Professional Development Points” at the K-12 level or course assignments and sabbaticals in higher Ed are slush funds doled out by Principals or VP’s to favorites and the compliant.

Just as it is unconstitutional coercion to force people to buy or pay for things, so public education was pushed gradually. Once in place, rot increases, destroying what it was promised to improve. The worse it gets, the harder the masters make it for creative alternatives to thrive. The same is done with ‘alternative’ energies: it is the destroyer’s iron hand in the velvet glove of therapeutic promises. Public education is an engrained and enforced form of violence against the self and culture.

Conversely, frontrunner (the ‘most serious’ candidate) Romney touted the success of public ‘education’ in Massachusetts which innovated (1840s, ‘normal schools’)and imposed its disaster on the nation, he proclaimed that the current admin applauded the ‘achievements’ of Mass public schools at the 4th and 8th grade ‘benchmarks.’ This tawdry fiction shows he does not know (or care) what is going on in schools and that he should not be President. Of course this admin likes whatever goes on in Mass regarding State-linked orgs. This writer has taught many Public School teachers-to-be and developed, directed and taught in a BA Liberal Arts program in a College that before him had specialized in insuring that classrooms would be filled with ignorant people prepared to ‘teach values,’ that “the community is the content” and that a good teaching model for self-esteem is for students to “get up and shake their tail feathers.” That’s where it’s at in Mass teacher prep. The Liberal Arts have been routed or deformed.

As Gingrich said, get the State OUT of education because the State is the negation of learning and true teaching. It is the master of extraction, indoctrination, “the closing of the American mind” and the preparation of serfs taught that we should ‘know no boundaries,’ that ‘we are the world, we are the people,’ etc ad nauseam. One might as well inscribe over the networks and over schools of education and public schools generally, in hoc signe decadence[3] or, even more pointedly, “lasciate ogni speranza, voi ch’entrate” for this system truly leads and has led us to “the unhappy city.”[4]

The Speaker also had some cogent and choice words about the military involvement in Afghanistan and our ‘ally,’ Pakistan which harbored UBL for many years and punished the one who helped find him. This ally, an artificial State carved by Britain out of India in 1946 (as it carved ‘Jordan’ out of Israel) is a source of perennial violence, turbulence, terror and attrition: that is its purpose. The English elites invented and mastered the technique (see the twitter revolutions) enable jihad: it is an instant crisis, no need to add water. Just stir a bit and it’s the unhappy city, worldwide. Then invite them into your own nation, give them perks, etc. Gingrich said the murder of the two American officers in circumstances that indicate why we should not be there at all (in yet another of these no-win, ‘there is no military solution,’ dismay- and-shame-America scenarios), showed that we should tell them where to get off; we should get out. This was not campaign rhetoric but part of a restore America policy that makes jihadi-oil States functionally irrelevant and weak, which they are (we need not sell them food) by making North America energy independent and an even greater exporter of oil and gas than we now are and then Russia is.. This can be done promptly by opening up drilling on our east and west coasts, and in the gulf (not only for foreign companies as, under Reagan, the Germans and Japanese were allowed to deplete the miraculous fisheries of the Grand Banks with a resulting and continuing spike in the price of ocean’s bounty). It should be clear now that we need to get the dogma of the self-styled ‘environmentalists’ whose theology is controlling and reducing humans, off our necks. Americans love nature and this gracious and bountiful planet, a gift of the Creator. If anyone wants to see earth degraded by pollution, go to the Far East or south about which the eco-fascists twit nary a peep.

A night or two after the debate, the Speaker was interviewed on the Gretchen von Sisterhood show and, as deftly as he had redirected Powderhead’s leading and moronic questions he refused to be ensnared in her attempts to get him to present himself as a ‘cruel bigot’ regarding ‘gay marriage’ or as a supporter of that non sequitur.[5] In response to coercive, bleeding heart comments, ostensibly part of a ‘question’ in the media’s typically disingenuous and directive manner, he noted that there were many legal means that such couples could use to arrange their relationship but that he believed that marriage meant a man and a woman, period. The media display how “when she desires to become master” under the confluence of feminism and democracy, “woman regresses.”[6] He achieved a similar redefinition in the debate. As Powderhead strained to extend the snarl about contraception, ‘social issues’ and ‘woman’s health’ Gingrich observed that the media had “never asked Obama about his support for infanticide” (partial birth abortion). He proceeded to address genuine issues.

It reflects the terrible but hopefully not yet terminal condition of our culture that the two candidates who have by far the most constructive, lucid, Constitutionally sound and cogent answers to our nation’s problems are presented as ‘running’ a distant third and fourth in the DC stakes. Yet, their persistence has made the talking hairstyles back off, a bit on their anxious push to crown a winner. In a dark time, the dazzling lie, endlessly refracted and repeated seems, or is said to be so much more compelling than the simple truth.

Those who speak truth to power, who note that abortion has long become a sacrament and that a “right to privacy” means a woman’s relation with her doctor, not her husband or even lover; and her ‘right’ to destroy on demand (often at other people’s expense) the incipient human life in her womb. But truths are being spoken in this campaign and among the people. There is one last chance to stem the rush toward State control of everything in the name of compassion. There even is heard, increasingly, the point that this administration treats enemies as friends and allies of which America has very few, as enemies; that it’s goal is to break America. Education, medicine, family, law, the armed forces and more are perverted, inverted to destroy the culture and exalt the State. Yes, ‘treason doth never prosper, for when it does, none dare call it treason.’ But it is so late in the day that some do, even on TV. Death stares our culture in the face and the prospect concentrates and awakens many minds.

Let Americans learn to ‘read’ the media and find the way out of the maze into which we have been led and are all but terminally ensnared.
