BASIC PRINCIPLES

Inflation is less of a financial or economic matter than an imperial one. The converse is true: the imperial habit is an inflation of cultural identity into a dominant icon. An image that displaces and consumes life, the icon of inflated cultural identity is hollow and leads to apocalypse.

It is horrible to live in a culture of lies, of official lies imposed as truth. The original sin of Western civilization, identity theft, now is being reaped in a whirlwind of media refraction, a very sad fun house filled with tropes, clichés, slogans and unreal facial expressions that baffle and bury truth, integrity and honor; television in itself is Star Trek on acid: the authorities are aliens. The future of an illusion is bleak indeed: we are living it. Like sleepers drowning in a dream, struggling toward a receding surface, the logic of the machine that inherits the end of a long historical process presses the life breath out of us.

A character from Greek myth relevant to our times is Cassandra, prophetess of Troy. Her curse for refusing the advances of Apollo, personification of prophecy, was to foresee and declare the future but never be believed. A perceptive writer in this penultimate cultural age with its ne plus ultra painfully visible does not have this problem. Things are so grim, the purposeful destruction of national institutions from marriage and the family to the armed forces and economy, that there are many who see or readily can be helped to see a significant part of the horror in which we live. Many see that America is being run into the ground. The perennial regime is not a failure; it is vicious, not stupid. Its insane policies are successful. The burden today is differently placed: it is to watch the destruction of so much that is good and to realize that the take down is a matter both of a privileged group’s malice and also flaws embedded in the structure of our society. See my archive for explanations of this process.

The Nixon administration engrained the ‘New Society’ of government expansion for therapeutic and ‘humanitarian’ reasons pioneered during the Johnson years. Remember those days? The entire nation was not yet polished, generic and feminized by the British invasions and inflation of sport and pop culture purveyed by the media distraction machine. The Nixon era saw the lengthening of the war he was elected either to win or end and we learned what had been previewed in Korea: the perennial policy of postmodern war whose purpose is attrition, impoverishment, confusion and breaking of the national will till it turn its eyes to ‘global solutions.’ The “We are the world, we are the people” mantra was the pop sedative for this defeat of spirit and intelligence.

During those years, the Directorate taught us terror as charismatic leaders were gunned down by private killers acting alone. The dollar was detached from silver and the planners accelerated the path of the currency to utter imposture, an image, a fraud backed by force rather than value or truth. To pay for the ratcheting up of the welfare State, the State that will take care of us all, taxes introduced during the first War when British propaganda and finance re-stitched their independent offspring to the designs of the City and Tower. “No-fault” divorce and abortion were thrown on men, women, families and children with abortion being to birth as ‘family courts’ are to families.
All this is terror. We never have and never will recover barring a miraculous reversal of this upheaval. Not even fixing the economy and making finance serve rather than subvert the nation will save it when ‘gender relations’ and the nature of the family are fouled. The terror that accrues from this breaking of basic patterns of relationship is greatly accelerated by ‘information technology,’ ‘social networking’ sites and the internet that strips away privacy and makes everyone edgy for in truth a people have never been so exposed to unseen eyes.

Every year, every Television season we more nearly fulfill the a degraded form of the totalitarianism prescribed by Plato and practiced in every major culture for a century with modern communications and transportation enabling the completion of the mania to control and manage that is the obsession of the idol and the image, of a culture of pretense, icons and hollow ideals; the culture of Esau-Edom and its intrinsic drive toward total coverage. The State is the ultimate social form of aesthetics and total control is the essence of the State, the ultimate image that consumes and displaces life. The degraded modern cult of “democracy” fulfils a vision foreseen in a great work of our great period, for over the world and, more than all, above our heads, as beamed from the grotesquely feminized, seductive media,

“hovers an enormous specimen of the American eagle…she appears, by the fierceness of her beak and eye and the general truculence of her attitude to threaten mischief to the inoffensive community; and especially, to warn all citizens against intruding on the premises [a Customs House] which she overshadows with her wings. Nevertheless, vixenly as she looks, many people are seeking at this very moment to shelter themselves under the wing of the federal eagle imagining that her bosom has all the tenderness of an eiderdown pillow. But she has no great tenderness, and even in her best of moods… is apt to fling off her nestlings with a scratch of her claw, a dab of her beak or a rankling wound of her barbed arrows.” [1]

Those claws and arrows now manage the world, in fractious collaboration with CTSO and the far Eastern behemoth our elites have built up to engage us in dialectic and a toxic marriage of commercial paper, cynicism, wage slavery and depression in tandem with the planet’s most ferocious collection agency. The mania of Esau is complete: there is total coverage, total oversight, near total management and imposition of the image which is imposed more fiercely the more inflated, brittle and fragile, the more unreal it is. This process is readily apparent in the ‘coverage’ accorded major sports franchises (a primary means of capturing and media market, conditioning and managing its target audience).

Health insurance displaces medicine while a virtual leader slides seamlessly through a tawdry and malignant virtual reality buzzing with idle and desperate flies caught in the World Wide Web. If you wanted America to fail you would front the regime with this kind of hologram and proceed as noted.

The rulers have essayed a law to prevent children from working on farms, including those of their own family. Both sides blather as if it was an issue of ‘safety,’ or ‘health’ or what is ‘age appropriate’ according to the Nanny Masters. But in fact it is about their wish to intrude into, regulate, manage and have ‘reason’ to punish every aspect of your lives, especially your family integrity and privacy (remember: this is the crowd that invented “the right to privacy,” that is, to abortion on [a woman’s] demand and as a ‘right’ pertaining to a woman’s relation with her doctor: see who’s been deleted).

Next your son won’t be allowed to shovel snow off your walk because --- it would keep you from falling or getting a heart attack. Besides, allowing this is one less reason to punish you; to get you used to being subservient, serf… Thus, it must not be allowed, in “the best interests of the child,” the mantra of ‘family courts.’ The inflation of bureaucratic power is further predatory giantism of the therapeutic image.

The ‘crisis’ in education, K-12 and ‘higher education’ exemplifies what must be fixed if this nation is to have any chance of renewal. Thirty years of increasing government mandates (these being the means of modern therapeutic tyranny) have made higher education an edifice of administrative giantism, political indoctrination and crippling expense. The edifice is adorned and largely defined as a higher form of voc tech with health spa and massive athletic programs tempting customers degraded by TV. Financial inflation matches inflated claims of “excellence” that began appearing as the morbidity and fraudulence of the system reached its rotten stage. Times being what they are, the citizenry, the subject populace, that is, is being prepared to subsidize a “College education for everyone” when the debased curriculum has become a platform for Statism, trivia and slovenly habits. The nation will be impoverished further as a jobs program for the ideologues (professoriate) that churn out and reinforce Statist attitudes, values and junk science, providing titles for simpering, twittering and chattering harlots to fill the screen and stalk the halls of Washington.

What has been done in the founder’s name is an epitome of the tragic irony and traumatic undoing of a culture based on identity theft which is precisely the terror in which it is ending, now that identity, we have been taught, has become infinitely ‘problematic’ and artificial. In truth it is not but the reduction of human beings to credit card #s and email addresses enforces the fraud. You’d think postmodern critical theory was analyzing the structure and dogmas of the Roman church and, how could it be otherwise – they are a debased extension and reflection of it: as then, so now… The artifice rules: long live the Queen.

When the ‘leaders’ (rulers) of the nation should have saved Main Street and chastened Wall Street and the Banks with thousands of prosecutions they rather plundered humans to save the system of delusory credit and fiat paper. Scriptures commands sound currency, weights and measures. The image masters have defied and destroyed this standard. The bubble will burst. The remains will be easier for them to control and manage.

It would be redemptive for higher education to follow its inflated trajectory and crash, abandoned by those who cannot afford even what they have been conditioned to believe essential. Public ‘education’ is just as expensive in taxes and consequences for youth and the nation. Stop paying for it! Stop sending your children to those fraudulent rat mazes of tedium and wasted years. Hire tutors for what you want your children to learn. Everyone will mind their own business, brilliance and competence will be fostered and the nation might then survive the other forms of inflation and decay.

The moment of ripeness is but a hair’s breadth in time from the process of decay. So it was in our culture. In the decades when the Republic was being formed, seeds of arrogance jostled with humility and the Hellenic root of the West began to displace the Hebraic basis of the Republic. After seven or eight decades and an apocalypse embedded as much in the Federal experiment as in European trade and colonialism, the rot became apparent. For a few decades, the forms remained intact while the rot spread until those who yearned to ruin and uproot the tree seized power and deformed the culture in the name of saving it and providing ‘social justice’ and ‘progress.’ Regression to the beast and the mania for control had begun in earnest as jazz, the convenient dogma of evolution and the need to save England showed. In rapid succession, the 16th – 19th amendments destroyed the roots of society and the relation of individuals from whom the government formerly had received its limited powers.

America has a few months to clear its head and step back from the precipice at whose base a dungeon of total degradation and subjugation gapes. Wake up: paths to take toward at least a measure of recovery are noted above. When the basic institutions of a culture generate corruption and predation rather than respect and tradition the new idol and its icon-sellers are poised to destroy the human.
