CONGRESS DOESN'T HAVE TIME TO READ BILLS THEY SIGN

We have been told over and over again from congress and this President that the stimulus bill had to be passed due to our endless financial emergencies. We were then told the pork would be taken out again and again. There is only one small problem. Pork kept being added. Soon it became clear to some of us that this was not a national emergency bill at all but a “revenge of the Democrats” bill.
The following were considered national emergencies to be added; $650 million for the digital television converter box coupon program; $600 million for furniture at the new Homeland Security headquarters; $200 million for public computer centers at community colleges; $88 million for renovating the headquarters of the Public Health Service, on and on, page after page. Then we heard from politician after politician that they didn’t have time to read the nearly 1200-page stimulus bill but voted for it. To me, the idea of voting for a monstrosity like this that steals for generations from the American people, without even knowing what is in it should be a CRIME. How is that representation in anyway? Join one of the Tea Parties April 15th and let your concerns be known. I will be one of the speakers at the Spokane WA Tea Party and am proud to be.
If congress is too busy to read bills that fly through or that are manipulated and added to, then they shouldn’t be considered at all! Omnibus bills, where everything and their dog are attached should be outlawed, especially since most of congress admits to not even reading them. These bills end up being passed in the middle of the night or magically at odd times on a weekend or Holiday followed by usually a lecture that we had a chance to respond to them. Can we all say rubbish?
At this rate if all kinds of bills are going to Wisk through congress without anyone reading them why doesn’t Bin Laden write and send one through declaring he and his terrorist buddies will run the state department; They could get it right through attached to something else of course. Why don’t we craft a bill where all churches are now considered illegal due to their out of control hate speech and quoting from sections of the Bible that hurt people’s feelings.
Actually, now I’m thinking clearly. How about we all craft a bill that cuts the salaries of those in congress in half, outlaws not reading any bill and gives them the same retirement that we have? Let’s attach it to a large omnibus bill so it will easily pass.

Hundreds of Tea Parties aren’t the end all and be all but they are certainly a place to meet, share our concerns and let our media and congress know that we are thoroughly ticked off, notice the man behind the curtain and AREN’T about to let this kind of misrepresentation stand in our country. The folks are getting organized and exercising their constitutional rights and freedoms. This is just the beginning. Join us at one of the Tea Parties.
