OATH ON WHAT AND WHO, AMERICA?

Boy oh boy! This is a nation of firsts isn't it? I remember the first time a non Christian was elected to congress, a Jew, an atheist, a Catholic, a Buddhist, a new ager, etc etc�..I'm quite sure there have been dozens of first time moments representing decades of congress people and their various versions of spirituality and now (drum roll) there is another first time, oh boy! The first Muslim elected to congress, Keith Ellison.

Is there anything different from all the other world views and faiths or lack there of, and Congressman Keith Ellison? THEY ALL HONORED OUR TRADITION AND HISTORY UNDER A CHRISTIAN GOD and Keith can't bring himself to do it. He couldn't possibly put his hand on the Holy Bible like every other leader through out US history. When did we last hear of anyone demanding they not do their oath on the Holy Bible? I'm certain, given the hoopla this story has gotten about his RIGHTS, and his RELIGION, that we must have seen ticker tape parades by the endless non-Christian congressman, demanding they not be coerced to give an oath on the Bible when they believe in tomato sauce more!

WE NEVER HAVE HEARD THE NON-BIBLE, NON-GOD CROWD IN CONGRESS CONSIDER NOT TAKING THEIR OATH ON THE HOLY BIBLE. Only now we are all to throw tradition, our Christian heritage, our collective believe that the God of the Holy Bible is whom we make our oaths to, out the window! Its racism if we don't. Its Muslim persecution if we don't. It's denying someone's uniqueness and rights if we don't.

The truth is��..we have just opened Pandora's box. It is the never-ending trail into submission to special interests and frankly fundamentalist Islam. They will push this little right, massage it, sue it into bigger forms, and demand more as we weakly allow it. How is it folks that this Muslim representative demands his special rights when all the other congressmen haven't and don't.

What is next since we will trash our traditions and allow other religious books to trump the Holy Bible? Why stop someone from giving an oath in congress or a court setting with the book of Satan? How about the teachings of Jim Jones? How about the Bible for Head Hunters? Why stand up for our historical traditions, legal codes and way of giving oaths in congress and court when we can be held captive to every right, whim, desire and frankly�..manipulation away from who we are and the God we have a national history giving oaths to. There should be no oaths on any other book than the Holy Bible in this country!!! Shame on us for even considering it!!!
