WHO CONTROLS THE WEATHER?
“Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north. By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened. Yes, he loads the thick clouds with moisture and scatters his lightning from the clouds. And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth.” -Job 37:9-12
The devastating tornadoes that ripped through the south this past week triggered some follow-up responses to my last column as if punctuate my words in regard to the corrections that are being poured out upon this degraded nation and it’s people. A continuing deluge of these death dealing events looms large for this society. Nowhere is there any sign of repentance or evidence of contriteness of heart. The people pick through the rubble, bewail the damage, lament the destruction of personal possessions, and mourn the loss of life, but no confession of sins and faults issue in regard to the perverse and lawless behaves that bring about such corrections.
WILLFULLY IGNORANT AND SPIRITUALLY BLIND
It is readily apparent to those with spiritual perception that the collective majority of the people of this society are willfully ignorant. This is to say that they actively expend every effort to sustain a condition of unknowingness. Moreover they will spend more time and energy to maintain their ignorance than they would to educate themselves. All of which explains the foregoing, and that which is to come.
I note that Alabama suffered most of the damage and the greatest loss of life to this monstrous whirling behemoth; this twisting demon of death and destruction. If the statistics are to be believed over three hundred deaths were attributable to this dervish out of the night.
A little research tells me that this storm descended upon the heels of a successful blocking - by Planned Parenthood and the medical abortion killers - of a “Fetal Personage Bill” in the Alabama State legislature. This bill would have extended to unborn babies all the rights, privileges, and immunities available to other persons, citizens, and residents of the state. My what a novel idea in this debased society that living babies might be protected from infanticide and be enabled of the protection of the Sixth Commandment that prohibits all acts of murder of human beings.
It does appear that the Almighty takes a dim view of the deliberate disobedience to His absolute stricture against the wanton killing of His own as presently many sections of several states - including Alabama - lie in wreckage, strewn with the temporal bits and pieces of man’s visage of the perfect life. It is as if the Creator has replicated the carnage that takes place in the state’s six abortion murder clinics, where the torn bits and pieces of formerly living babies are discarded in the bins and dumpsters, after having been slaughtered without even the tranquilizing benefits that are afforded the most brutal of murderers in the execution chambers. These babies feel pain, excruciating pain and their blood cries out to the Father from the ground.
OBEDIENCE UNTO RIGHTEOUSNESS
“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.” -Romans 12:19
He that spares his rod (correction) hates his son - That is, if he hated him, he could not do him a greater disservice than not to correct him when his obstinacy and disobedience requires it. Our heavenly Father does not hate this nation or the people of it, He hates the sin that is upon us and our obstinance and willful disobedience to His word. Since His justice is absolute and perfect He will not spare the rod (correction) in regard to a willful and continuing non-compliance with His laws.
If He did not spare even His own sinless Son from the punishment for the sins of mankind, why in the name of all that’s morally justified would He save unrepentant men from their purposeful lawless actions. The answer is of course, He will not! The blood of His Son saves from sin only those repentant souls who rest in Him by faith. The operative words here are repentance - meaning a turnaround - and faith, or acceptance by absolute belief.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS
In my youth when my Dad applied the strap to my backside in a correction of character session it was always done directly proportional to the nefariousness of the deed that I had committed. There was no mitigation of the punishment wrought by a pronouncement that everybody was doing it or that others had led me to do the dastardly deed. My Dad was concerned solely about my integrity and welfare and that of my siblings. His thoughts were that no matter how foul of character others might be, how morally deficient they were, or how perverse their acts; his children were not going to be such as these were.
And no matter how stinging the punishment, it was exceedingly preferable to that which was administered should the guilty one attempt to cover the transgression with a lie. This was to invite thunder into one’s life.
Our Father in Heaven views the iniquity of this nation, the villainous actions its leaders, and the sins of every last individual soul in our society in exactly the same light as my Dad viewed my youthful derelictions. There had better be some tears of remorse, some anguish; some repentance and some humble sorrow in regard to our sins or the thunder will fall. The people of this nation had better do a turnaround, and they had better do it quickly because if necessary the sovereign Creator of the Universe and everything in and of the Universe will utterly flatten the whole of the United States. Mark it down and believe it.
BACKWARD SPIRITUAL BELIEFS
I had a friend whose habit it was to point out a dim-witted reverse order of actions or deeds by identifying such as, “ass backward”. His colloquialism was meant to highlight the fact that he perceived something to be extremely out of order, very confused and mixed up, or completely upside down and wrong. I have found that most people have a similar backward and dissonant view of God and God’s word.
One would expect that only the heathen who deny the existence of the Creator and His eternal being would be so foolish and fearless in this regard. Not so I find that the great majority of secular Christians - having a form of godliness, but denying its power - seem to be possessed of a similar reasoning. The only difference is that these believe that the Master of the heavens and of the earth does exist, but only as a strangely benign easygoing and agreeable apparition of a maudlin and benevolent character, they see Him as a one dimensional God of love. And they fear Him not.
My guess would be that these so-called Christians have not read the word and have no knowledge of His mighty works; they are guided in this line of thought all too often by secular preachers who have not informed them that Love of God comes from a fear of God.
A headline in my newspaper today reads: Scientists probe deadly twisters - Researchers want to find out how many developed their strengths. Foolish people, if they would plumb the depths of the Bible they would discover these words. “That they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth.” -Job 37:9-12 There is no mystery to it God commands the weather, be it mild or ferocious. Pick up the Book people the answers are there.
There are those who have written to admonish me that The Creator is a loving God who would never ever deliver destruction upon men. These maintain that God could never render unto death any living creature, let alone men. I believe that these believe that they are delivering me from ignorance. I sometimes wonder about this disconnection from what the word actually says and their version of it.
Now, if I am to believe that God does not divinely destroy carnal life and merely maintains a neutral posture and allows happenstance forces to deliver His corrections upon the spiritually corrupt then how am I to explain the wipeout of the entirety of the Antediluvians’ by water other than Noah and his family? Since God stated His intention in advance of the flood, had Noah plan for the flood by the building of an Ark, and in His own words sent the flood, how am I to believe that His mighty hand was not in the event? - Seems to be some pretty goofy logic here.
There is no shortage of descriptive events in God’s word to refute such inaccurate contentions. The swallowing alive of the dissidents, who challenged the leadership of Moses, by the earth as a visible token of an invisible punishment at the hand of God drives home the point that God will judge unrighteousness and deliver just sanctions upon immoral behavior. Those that think otherwise have to believe that Ananias and Sapphira after having lied to the Holy Spirit just dropped dead from natural causes.
COGNITIVE DISSONANCE – TOO LITTLE TOO LATE
I am beginning to see a glimmer of dissonance of thought in this nation. There is beginning to be a vague line of thinking by some that things in our society are not as they are represented to be, and in fact are vastly worse than what those in control have purported them to be. Until very recently those who have come to such thought have been in a state of denial in regard to their feelings. In all probability such awareness is in the incipient stages and will never fully develop until it is entirely too late.
God is unchanging and unceasingly the same. He is omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent…think not that He lacks the power to carry out His words. In the face of His magnificence this nation and the people thereof ought to be on their knees and crying out for mercy and forgiveness.
And God’s people say, Amen!
