Conservatism: Not for the Faint of Heart

The fight we are engaged in, involving the radical liberal agenda, and core conservative values, is necessary in order for people to choose which side they are on. As Conservatives, it’s time out for living in our world, while allowing the passage of insidious legislation, coupled with the outlandish textbooks permeating our cities and schools. Sure, it’s wonderful to come home to a great neighborhood at the end of the day, but don’t be so far removed from the issues that plague the social order, that you lose the instinct to contest the far-Left liberal agenda that reeks of tyranny, socialism, perversion, and ultimately, the undoing of America.

Conservatives have a powerful weapon, among many, in our arsenal: virtue. Virtue clearly separates the conservatives from the radical liberals. There are some who consider themselves liberal, as well as virtuous. I find that hard to comprehend because the liberal agenda is bent on total control of society, and its inhabitants, no matter the cost. Therefore, virtues such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, are redefined in the mind of most liberals as the total opposite:

- Life=death (abortion, euthanasia, suicide),
- Liberty=tyranny (total government intrusion and control), and,
- The pursuit of happiness=the pursuit of unhappiness, (destruction of traditional families; suppressing capitalism).

A liberal might go through the motions of appearing to value life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but if that were true, he or she wouldn’t support the destruction of the pillars of America, namely the Constitution. Such a person would, in all reality, be a conservative.

Liberals would have you believe that virtuous attributes are not desired in our society; one of their many lies. Do you know why virtue is desirable? Because people are created in the image, and likeness, of God, and most people have not cast away their confidence in their fellow man (or woman). Some couldn’t care less, however, most people can be appealed to by the innate goodness of God in mankind.

Virtue is powerful! It will sustain you even when it appears that there are very few sane people in society. By practicing virtue, you will genuinely persuade others to follow suit, which makes for a happier individual, not to mention a healthier society.

I reiterate—it’s of necessity that the liberal agenda be flaunted “as is.” The following two explanations state best why Americans are in the predicament that we presently find ourselves in:

1. We are reaping what we have sown, or what we have allowed to be sown, or;
2. God, in His mercy, is allowing Americans a chance to redeem ourselves, and is calling us to action against this diabolical onslaught from the far Left. He can’t provoke us to action if there is nothing to fight against.

I happen to believe that both reasons are in effect simultaneously. Scripture substantiates both views:

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34 NIV)
“He handed them over to the nations, and their foes ruled over them.” (Psalm 106:41 NIV)
“The LORD is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.” Psalm 118:7

I don’t doubt for a minute that each one of us has good intentions as a citizen and, for those who espouse God’s laws, as a Christian. Yet, every one of us bears a part in the state of affairs that we now find our country entangled in. At one time or another, we buried our heads in the sand when it came to politics. We refused to take a stand for the truth. We ignored the issues. We brushed things off as, “someone else’s problem,” or, “the job of politicians,” or, “worldly issues.” We turned a deaf ear, and a blind eye, and, as a result, are receiving the consequences of such decisions. We let our guard down, and swallowed the pill that lulled us to believe that things will pass in time. Well, not only have things not passed, they have actually served as a means for liberals to brazenly spring into action, and rip this country apart at the seams.

How do you suppose this might have happened? Perhaps in our enjoyment of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, we became content and comfortable and, every once in a while, cast a casual glance at the disarray of the political order. Then, years later, an incredibly decadent, debauched, and depraved culture loomed out as us at every turn. And we wondered why, and thought, “What happened?” We shook our heads and blamed the parents, the politicians, and the pastors. Weren’t we the least bit liable for the plight of America? Could we have done more?

I realize that I am being somewhat critical, however, I am not condemning anyone; I have no right to do that. I am simply ensuring that you understand exactly what sort of debased value system has evolved in America, and the elements that have jointly contributed to it. Have you considered the fact that we are losing generations of young people, even preteens, to pornography, drugs, illicit sex, suicide, and homosexual behavior? We recoil at their behavior and spiritual bondage, yet often refrain from encouraging them in the way of truth. In many respects, their lifestyle is their “religion,” and we don’t care enough to challenge their beliefs in an effort to “convert” some of them from the destructive path of liberal ideology.

God help us.

We must start to care more, and do more.
