THE SUPREME COURT CLOSED THE DOOR ON JUDGE MOORE

By Pastor Chuck Baldwin

November 4, 2003

NewsWithViews.com

Yesterday's decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to not hear Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore's Ten Commandments case paves the way for the total removal of America's public recognition of God. Furthermore, it is yet another nail in the coffin of religious liberty and constitutional governance in the United States.

Coincidentally, it was my privilege and honor to host Chief Justice Roy Moore during the giant God and Country Day at the Crossroad Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida, this past Sunday, which turned out to be the eve of the Supreme Court's decision. After talking personally with the Chief Justice and hearing him clearly articulate his position, I believe the judge has truly drawn a line in the sand for the future of our republic. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court and a majority of America's leaders have chosen to stand on the wrong side of that line.

Piece by piece, all vestiges of America's Christian heritage are being dismantled and destroyed. This is not accidental; it is deliberate. The movers and shakers of this conspiracy have captured the leadership of both major parties, most of the institutions of higher learning, most of the major media, most of the entertainment moguls, and a sizable percentage of our seminaries and churches.

The result of this not-so-silent takeover of the American culture by these purveyors of secularism is that brave and uncompromising patriots such as Judge Roy Moore are attacked from every conceivable source. Moore has been attacked by his fellow jurists, the governor and attorney general of his own state, the media, academicians, the President of the United States, and even fellow Christians and pastors. The public hanging will be complete on November 12 when Chief Justice Roy Moore will, in all likelihood, be officially removed from the bench by the judiciary's ignoble inquisitors.

The message is clear: bow to the image of the state, or face the consequences! Today, our country is beginning to resemble the Roman or Babylonian empires of old more than the constitutional republic bequeathed to us by our Founding Fathers!

The bright side of all this gloominess is that, like Daniel of old, no matter how much treachery is brought against Roy Moore, God is still with him! The greater the attacks become, the stronger he becomes! Beyond that, the door that God allows to be closed to Roy Moore today will only serve to open an even larger and more influential door tomorrow.
