A DECLARATION OF WHO I AM
By Pastor Chuck Baldwin October 11, 2005 NewsWithViews.com It is time for me to once again inform my readers regarding who I am and what makes me tick. After all, I believe it is only fair that people who read my writings know up front some basic information about me. Veteran readers may already know most of this information. However, I'm sure there are many newer readers that will find this information helpful. I was born in a small town in northern Indiana. My father was a hard working, blue collar worker. A welder by trade, my father was a lifelong Democrat and member of the Teamsters Union. My mother and father were both active, dedicated Christians who went to church every Sunday. Dad was a lay preacher in the jails and prisons of northern Indiana for over 35 years. His life story was broadcast over the Unshackled radio program, produced by the Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago. My family hails from the state of Arkansas. My father was the only one who chose to live north of the Mason Dixon line. He left the state in his early forties, some three or four years before I was born, looking for work. (Yes, Gertrude, my father was 45 years old when I was born. My mother was 39.) All my family, including my maternal and paternal grandparents lived and raised their families in or near Little Rock. I moved to Dixie (Virginia first, then Florida) after my sophomore year of college and have never left. After much self study, I have come to believe the South was right during the War Between The States, and when the subject comes up, my writing reflects that belief. Religiously, I am a born again Christian who worships in an Independent Baptist Church. I am pre-millennial in my view of eschatology and would consider myself somewhat of a Spurgeon- Calvinist. I believe the Holy Bible to be the inerrant, infallible Word of God. I believe in a triune Godhead. I believe Jesus is the incarnate Son of God. I believe that Jesus rose bodily from the dead. I believe in a literal heaven and a literal hell. I believe in tithing. Politically, I was raised a Democrat but became a Republican when Ronald Reagan ran for the presidency. By 2004, I became convinced that the Republican Party had abandoned its conservative, constitutional principles and became an Independent, choosing to affiliate with the Constitution Party. My wife and I have been married for over 32 years. Connie is from Tennessee. I believe her to be the greatest wife a man could ever have! We have three children and five grandchildren. My daughter is married to a structural engineer and is pursuing a degree in psychology. My oldest son owns his own plumbing business. My youngest son is a Florida Assistant State Attorney (called District Attorney in some states). My children and their spouses are all Christians and are actively involved in our church in Pensacola, Florida. They have never been in trouble with the law, neither have they given us sorrow. Instead, they have brought us nothing but happiness. We could not have been blessed with more wonderful children! My personal philosophy regarding social/political issues is quite simple. I believe abortion is murder. I believe it is the deliberate killing of innocent human life. I believe that the Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision is abhorrent to the Constitution and should be immediately overturned. I believe that homosexuality (and other forms of sexual deviancy) deserve neither social acceptance nor legal favor. I believe that individuals have the right to keep and bear arms. I believe America's Founding Fathers formed the greatest group of political statesmen to ever live at any time in any place. I believe our elected officers are required to govern according to the U.S. Constitution. I believe there is a conspiracy to steal America's independence and to create an international New World Order predicated upon global commercialism. I believe that most Christian pastors and ministers have sold their pulpits to the Republican Party in general and to George W. Bush in particular. Regarding personal interests, my hobbies (though neglected more often than not) are hunting and fishing. My favorite spectator sport is NFL football. My favorite team is the Green Bay Packers. I prefer owning vehicles made by General Motors (though my wife prefers Toyotas). I despise shopping for clothes (and my wardrobe doubtless reflects it). I'm uncomfortable in fancy restaurants. I hate to fly commercial airlines, but when I do, I prefer Delta. I don't smoke but love the smell of pipe tobacco.
There you have it. In a nutshell, that's who I am. You can look for my next column to be consist with the above without disappointment. Thanks for reading. © 2005 Chuck Baldwin - All Rights Reserved Sign Up For Free E-Mail Alerts E-Mails are used strictly for NWVs
