GERMAN CRISIS IGNORED AT OUR OWN PERIL

Christian brothers and sisters in Germany are being heavily persecuted for their faith and for following the admonition of the Lord to train up a child in the way that he should go (Prov. 22:6). Seven families in Paderborn who chose to fulfill the Lord's mandate by homeschooling their children have been warned by a German state official that they must either send their children to government school or the police will forcibly take them there. Some homeschool families have faced heavy fines and been threatened with losing their children to state custody. What happened to the German Constitution that was supposed to uphold freedom of religion and parental rights?

Some German parents believe that what is happening to their children in their local government schools is criminal. Richard Guenther, Director of the German legal defense group, gives us some insight as to why parents are so distraught about the situation in their local schools. According to Guenther, parents claim that Christian values are being replaced by the state's amoral values and that children are being raised to be promiscuous. Relaxation "techniques" are used in the classroom where boys and girls lie down together in a darkened room and explore all areas of their neighbor's bodies with a feather until they find the most "sensitive" spots. They are encouraged to touch each other anywhere they wish. Children are taught that homosexuality is normal and that they need to discover their own sexual identity for themselves. Fourth grade students are shown videos of the complete sex act and told that this is how babies are made. The children are assured by the video's narrator that sex feels good and is fun. Darwin's evolution theory is taught as fact.

No surprise here that Darwin's evolution theory is taught as fact in classrooms teaching such perverse behavior. The Christian worldview is anathema to the state religion of Darwinism because Christians believe that man was made in God's image. They believe in objective truth as set down in the rules detailed by our Creator in Scripture. Evolution teaches man has a common ancestor with earthworms. What a perfect foundation for teaching amoral values! I mean, what kind of values could an earthworm have? If evolution is true then there are no set rules, no right or wrong, except for the rules based on the whims of whoever happens to be in control of any particular situation at any given time - the very basis by which tyrants rule. Children in Germany (and America) are being trained for a "new world" of atheistic socialism where the God of the Bible is given no place.

It is no wonder that some parents in Germany have chosen to go into hiding. One family was helped to escape by a social worker who delayed paperwork and warned that a judge was going to take custody of their child. Another family who fled to Austria risks losing their child should they step foot back in Germany where the court said it would immediately take custody of the child. In another case, hard-core pornography was being used to teach the children in their German language course! The judge ruled that parents have no right to decide on how their child is educated and that the government school is the authority even in areas of conscience. The judge told the family that "fundamentalist Christians, who do not want their children to attend the government schools, are not protected by the constitution!"

Excellent organizations like Homeschool Legal Defense (HSLDA) and Exodus Mandate have joined forces along with other groups to support the 7 Paderborn Christian homeschool families on whom extreme pressure has been placed to send their children to government school. This is not just a battle for the Germans, but for God's people everywhere.

An excellent response would be to write to the German embassy to voice your disapproval of what is happening to homeschool families like those in Paderborn. Ask them to support freedom of religion and the rights of parents to direct the upbringing of their own children. Request that legal charges and fines be dismissed for any German family who simply made the choice to homeschool their children.

HSLDA assures us that protests from overseas can help to change the views of the German government. In one case, e-mails and calls caused a dismissal after only three weeks for a family that was facing two years of imprisonment for homeschooling. So be encouraged!

If we choose to ignore this crisis in Germany, it will be at our own peril. While many people might be unaware, there is a global school board called the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), whose plans are to usurp parental rights worldwide. The goal is to promote paganism and world government and to destroy Christianity in every nation by erasing the conscience of the next generation. God's people must stand together and help each other against these evil forces whenever and wherever it rears its ugly head.

The Great Commission of Jesus as found in Matthew 28:18-20 commands us to "make disciples of all nations" and to "teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you". How can we carry out this Commission when we allow our precious young children, against God's command, to be forcibly indoctrinated into lifestyles of perversion? God's people in Germany need YOU now! Please heed their call.
