Election Year 2008: The Best Platform Money Can Buy

The global trend: With increasing frequency, global soft law supersedes the U.S. Constitution. Once ratified, an agreement, convention, declaration, executive order, pact, summit, or treaty legally binds a nation to its provisions. American citizens standing before the International Criminal Court no longer enjoy legal safeguards guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. You see, the ICC is poised to wield permanent jurisdiction over numbers of rights that defy our own Constitution, not to mention clear biblical mandate with respect to reproductive and homosexual rights, voluntary legalized prostitution, and adolescent autonomy from parental intrusion.

Boasting the largest number of candidates of any in U.S. history, the 2008 presidential race is of paramount importance. Purportedly, over half the contenders are in some way linked to the Council on Foreign Relations, spearheading global government at the expense of American sovereignty. Furthermore, a majority of the candidates align with religious denominations of the one-world, inter-faith variety.

The secular reality: Numerous key issues are at stakefor one, plans of the Campaign for the National Popular Vote to ditch the tried-and-true electoral college. To do so would inappropriately advantage candidates from the most populated states, as California or New York. Furthermore, it would override the safeguard that no single faction or issue can elect a president, who instead must win over many diverse states.

Constitutionally, Congress makes the laws; courts interpret them. Keep in mind that Supreme Court justices are not elected, as are members of Congress, yet the former remain in for life. Be sure, factions most likely would super-size the judicial voice. It stands to reason that supremacist judicial activists are guided by their own social and political preferences over and above the U.S. Constitution. To further enable the most powerful decision-makers in the land could be tantamount to giving our culture an extreme make-over by court order.

In 1994, the Wall Street Journal dubbed Prof. Larry J. Sabato of the University of Virginia "the most-quoted college professor in the land." A Rhodes Scholar, this political analyst apparently advocates rewriting our Constitution. To do so would erase a great compromise: the House based on population; the Senate, on state representation. It would ban third parties and presentation of valid IDs before voting. Non-natural born citizens would qualify for the highest office in the land; men and women both would be called to mandatory military service; and elitist judges would qualify for even more special privilege.

Last but not least, there are plans underfoot to give the District of Columbia a House seat, to create a race-based state in Hawaii similar to that of an Indian tribe, and to make Puerto Rico a state. Never mind that nearly half their people oppose the idea, as should we. If Puerto Rico were to become a state, our nation would be officially bi-lingual, and taxes would skyrocket.

The reason for hope: Western democracy features control of the government by the people through elected representatives. To win by raising the most money from lobbyists perverts the divinely inspired and unique political perspective of what Trinity Law Professor James Hirsen identifies as the grand experiment we call America. Core American values springnot from big moneybut rather from freedom of speech, religious expression and an unbiased press. True, there are dire issues at stake this election year, but then we the people have a voice and, better yet, the right to exercise it.

2008: Ominous Overlay of Religious Extremism

The global trend: Lauded as the nations most peripatetic civil liberties lawyer, Alan Dershowitz rightly fingers atomic ayatollahs in search of an apocalyptic event to resurrect the Twelfth Imam as far more dangerous than secular extremism. Indeed, Islamo-fascists perceive the continuum of life as a smooth transition into Paradise. To this end, hyper-fundamentalist Muslim warriors from Lebanon (Hezbollah, meaning party of God) have trained a couple thousand pubescent boys as suicide bombers. With (count them!) seventy-two awaiting virgins, fantasy-driven young men welcome death. For them, the end of the world is a romantic ideal. The once effective dynamic of mutual assured destruction no longer deters when religious extremists truly believe in destroying infidels no matter the cost.

Mike Evans points out that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has donned the mantle of Ayatollah Khomeini, taken up bin Ladens call, and is fostering an Islamic revolution that is aimed at the bloodiest clash of religious ideologies the world has ever seen between Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Make no mistake. World dominion is the goal. Toward this end, Ahmadinejad and his ilk are committed to solving the Jewish problem by wiping Israel off the mapliterally.

The secular reality: Should Iran succeed in securing nuclear weaponry, the new world it purposes to forge will be ruled by ayatollahs under Sharia Law. In a word, opponents would have the limited choice to submit or die. Director of the CIA (1993-1995) James Woolsey calls it like it isa crazed, ideological, totalitarian, fanatic and anti-Semitic genocidal threat.

The reason for hope: To Islamo-fascists, Israel is the Little Satan; Zionist America, the Great Satan. Ahmadinejads extremist arm of Islam consists of theocratic fanatics who vilify Jews and her allies as monkeys, pigs and infidels. That being said, the fact remains: Todays ongoing conflict between Islam and the West springs from a 4,000-year feud between the descendants of AbrahamIshmael and Isaac.

According to the Bible, to bless Israel is to be blessed; to curse her is to be cursed. In my way of thinking, law Professor Dershowitz at Harvard is correct in his observation that, historically, Israel is the first true democracy and our only reliable ally in the Middle East. Furthermore, Americans continued support of Israel is best for Americaand is doable. In no way is this to be construed as disdain for Palestinians, numbers of whom share our Christian heritage.

2008: Demographic Myths

The global trend: With about one hundred members drawn from fifty-two countries and five continents, the prestigious Club of Rome purposes to reduce earths population by astounding numbers. A professor at John Hopkins University, Simon Newcomb has argued that love of mankind at large should prompt us to take such measures as shall discourage or prevent the bringing forth of children by the pauper and criminal classes. No measure of repression would be too severe in the attainment of the latter objective. Unbelievably, for the sake of population control, English philosopher-globalist Bertrand Russell even advocated bacteriological warfare, if need be!

Understand that the UN guiding principle is sustainable development based on the Marxist-Leninist mandate of earning ones keep on the planet. To ensure sustainability, todays death culture is at the heart of international population reduction plans that purpose to eliminate non-producers, as the elderly, and undesirablesthose not so smart or beautiful, including the comatose, disabled, terminally ill, severely depressed or mentally impaired.

The secular reality: Some will be surprised to learn that industrialized countries have all seen sharp declines in their total fertility rates. When this happens and the population ages, there are fewer and fewer workers to replace older ones. Under such circumstances, supporting mom and dad holds little appeal. This is precisely why euthanasia is becoming so popular in most European countries.

Americas alarming increase in population is due, not to out-of-control breeding practices, but rather to her unsustainable immigration levels. Some twelve million or more illegal aliens are sorely taxing Americas infrastructure and welfare system. Each day, undocumented aliens commit hundreds of felonies including an estimated twelve murders.

The reason for hope: Contrary to demands of Malthusian extremists, there is no justifiable need for Draconian measures to curb the human population for the sake of sustainable development. To the contrary, under-population trends best be reversed. This is possible only if and when young people start breeding. Even so, declining birth rates in some areas are so low that it will take two generations to turn things around. On the up side, some countries are beginning to introduce incentives for having bigger families. The U.S. provides IRS exemptions for dependents, and Italy now offers tax breaks for having children.

2008: Battle for Morality in a Raging Culture War

The global trend: Post-war Europe has experienced the most precipitous decline in religious belief in the history of the West. Concurrently, religious, cultural and historical amnesia has released a veritable floodgate of anti-American propaganda.

According to Lt. Gen. Moshe Yaalon (chief of staff for Israeli Defense Forces, 2002-2005), the strategic goal of Iran is to defeat Western values in exchange for a new caliphate. Apart from Islamo-fascists, Tehrans work already is well underway. You see, two hundred years of Darwinism, materialistic naturalism, and reductionist psychology naturally lead to the faulty conclusion that humans are no more or less than animals.

It is no wonder that so many Americans today lack a moral compass. Too many have abandoned the wisdom of our first president, General George Washington, who proclaimed that reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.

The secular reality: In his treatise The Reagan Doctrine, Lee Edwards wrote about Reagans visits to Poland and East Berlin after collapse of Soviet communism. Many former dissidents told him that when he called the Soviet Union an evil empire, it gave them enormous hope, for at long last, America had a leader who understood the nature of communism.

All the more today, America needs leaders who understand the Culture War in which we are engaged. She needs leaders who recall that in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries Judaism and Christianity together served to unleash the scientific revolution paired with the greatest outpouring the world has ever known in art, literature and music.

In the late 1600s, when Vienna hosted the climatic battle between Islam and Western civilization, the West won and went forward; Islam lost and went backward. This 21st century, our moral imperative is to rekindle the light without which theres no moving forward.

The reason for hope: By Gods grace we can and will appropriate moral clarity and divine empowerment to fight evil, no matter its form, until evil is soundly defeated. At His appointed time, the Creator-God of heaven and earth will reign victoriously in a Kingdom of His making. I bank on it!

2008: Conclusion

Even if a desired candidate wins the presidency and we declare victory in Iraq; even if our economy stabilizes and global birthrates are normalized; and even if Americas status as a global superpower is secured, my greatest hope is in none of these.

Americas real battle goes beyond Bagdad and trumps the so-called Culture War to which Ive referred. More accurately, ours is spiritual warfare between forces of darkness and the Light of the World.

The late President Ronald Reagan identified the greatest political body in America to be the church, not any political party. Reagan was not as worried about the left wing or the right. He simply wanted God to heal the bird. As a nation, our surest hope rests in the God of our Fathers. In His time, leaves of the Tree of Life referenced in Revelation 22 will affect the healing of nations. We can rest assured that God Himself is well able to direct the hearts of world leaders (Prov. 21:1), and He can awaken a slumbering church and summons her, as He did Queen Esther, for such a time as this. Understandably, the restructuring of American business contributes to ongoing decline, and what appears to be deliberate destruction, of the American middle class.
