Josephine County, Oregon -- Swat Teams have arrived in most communities across the national turf and are armed similar to a military force. These hornets are ready to kill and destroy whatever their superiors determine the target to be. Most federal agencies have acquired swat teams that perform much like military units with advanced weaponry. Thus allowing swat teams to use the same type of armament and technology on the home front. Armed federal agencies are deemed to be an unconstitutional expansion of police power. Recent news headlines focused on the Bureau of Land Management's swat team, the Bundy family, and armed patriots. And in Josephine County the United States Forest Service, USFS, is another armed federal agency that has already attempted to override the powers of the Josephine County Sheriff. These federal agencies now have military type force to use rather than the judicial system. These armed federal agencies are as much a threat to our republican form of government as is a foreign invader.

Enemies, Foreign and Domestic

The Constitution forbids a standing army and the voters need to elect a sheriff who understands this, his oath of office, and what the Constitution says about swat teams, in reality a standing army. Sheriff Gilbertson has taken a position on this issue. His stance is a constitutional one. He wrote, “I am too committed to my beliefs to change now; so count me in for the long haul. I work for the people who placed their confidence and trust in me to protect them from enemies either foreign or domestic, and I plan to honor that Oath.”

Taking on USFS Swat Team Mentality

In 2011, Sheriff Gilbertson was dealing with an out of control USFS and its attempt to usurp control over local county law enforcement in Josephine County and other areas. On July 15, 2011 The USFS issued a publication, “Purportedly to clarify and expand their authority.” On, “September 21, 2011 the Western States Sheriff's Association responded with a position paper to the USAF.” In this paper the Sheriff's Association stated the USFS was doing the following, “1. Showing an absolute disregard for the sovereignty of the individual states. 2. A disregard for the Office of Sheriff, and 3. A continued inability of the Forest Service to understand the mission and function of its Law Enforcement component.”Additionally, This effort is viewed as an unnecessary and unauthorized expansion of federal police powers.

The ultimate legal and constitutional authority for the protection of the public and the land within an individual county is vested in the Office of Sheriff.”

Sheriff Gilbertson Best Qualified For Sheriff Position

Sheriff Gilbertson has extensive administrative experience and practical hands on experience in the operation of the sheriffs office. Some of his background credentials include: Vietnam, Kosovo, Bosnia, an Iraq. And he also has had a career in civilian law enforcement. And he understands and respects his oath of office and the Constitution. Not only is the Sheriff's office charged with law enforcement it is the only local authority that can be used against an out of control federal government reaching for powers it has not been constitutionally granted.

The Sheriff's Office must remain the final authority for law enforcement in Josephine County. It is also critical that a constitutional sheriff be elected and that man is, Gil Gilbertson.
