POWER FROM THE KING FOR THE KINGDOM

This week I attended the Watchmen on the Wall conference via the internet and was very encouraged. Five Hundred pastors from all corners of our land gathered to hear what they could do to restore our land. I've attended this this annual conference before, and this is the first time I have heard the exhortation to pastors that they should run for office.

Video of the Sermon:

One of the speakers in fact is a pastor in South Dakota. He not only ran for but is now a Delegate in the State House for his State. It was also a great encouragement to hear from our good friend, who has spoken twice from this pulpit, the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, Roy S. Moore. He spoke on the battle for marriage there in Alabama, sharing what they have done and why as well as what they will do in Alabama should the Supremes in Washington choose to curse God and attempt to destroy His Holy Institution of Marriage.

Alabama will not comply, because the Supremes are not only not the law of the Universe, the Federal government has no jurisdiction over the subject of marriage at all - it is not in the Constitution and unless that contract is amended to include marriage, no amount of ink they spill on paper has any binding power over the State of Alabama. Praise God, there are elected officials in at least one State in our land who understand that Jesus Christ has all authority in heaven and on earth, and that His Law is the supreme Law of the Universe and therefore above what anyone on earth says is law.

The battle is engaged and quite clearly the enemies of God, those who hate His Law are responding as Psalm 2 describes, “The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.”

The rejection of God’s Law means they also will reject and persecute those who desire to live in obedience and submission to God’s Law. We have seen the persecution of florist, photographers and bakers, one being fined $135,000, but that is just the tip of the iceberg as the Supreme Court hearing revealed. What we are up against if the Supremes do what it is expected they will do, is taxation imposed upon every non profit organization as well as every church which holds to the Biblical standard regarding marriage. And as the Court has stated in the past, “The power to tax is the power to destroy.”

For some it is already become very personal; “Like most states, Arizona gives judges the authority to solemnize marriages and many, probably most, of them do so. The Arizona Supreme Court Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee has now issued an advisory that says judges cannot refuse to perform same-sex weddings if they choose to perform opposite-sex weddings. The advisory says: a judge who chooses to perform marriages may not discriminate between marriages based on the judge’s opposition to the concept of same-sex marriage. Rule 2.3(B) of the Arizona Code of Judicial Conduct provides that a judge shall not, “in the performance of judicial duties,” manifest bias or prejudice based upon sexual orientation….”[1]

Washington State has a similar rule and one judge is now being disciplined for his refusal to perform such sodomite unmarriage ceremonies. You see it isn’t an issue of tolerating those who disagree with them. The sodomites demand that those who don’t agree with their sin must be made to change their mind and now celebrate their sin. We are facing persecution in America unless something dramatically changes and quickly.

Attorney David French in National Review argues that the “foundational principle of our Republic is being jettisoned before our eyes. To the Left, “you are either a revolutionary or an enemy, and no lesser light than the federal government’s chief constitutional advocate has now raised the specter of a legal regime far worse than ‘separation of church and state.’ For the sexual revolutionaries, it’s the state against the church.”[2]

The anomaly which has been in this land for over 300 years appears to be coming to an end. That anomaly is a land where persecution of Christians has been absent. What do we need at this hour for what we are now facing? Turn to Acts 2. The very first Christians faced what we are facing. The lived in the city that crucified our Lord, they face an onslaught from both the political and religious leaders of hatred and violent persecution. We see that this persecution did not dissuade them in the least from the mission Christ had given them; they bravely proclaimed Christ.
