GEORGIA GOVERNOR ABANDONS LIBERTY, EMBRACES PERVERSION

If you’ve ever read Alice in Wonderland or Lewis Carrol’s follow-up, Through the Looking Glass, you’ll recall Alice was confronted by a world of irrationality, every thing upside down, inside out and simply stupid. In one scene she has a conversation with the Red Queen who is claiming rationality. Alice finally objects to the Queen’s irrationality.

Video of the sermon

"No, I shouldn't," said Alice, surprised into contradicting her at last: "a hill can't be a valley, you know. That would be nonsense--

The Red Queen shook her head. "You may call it 'nonsense' if you like," she said, "but I've heard nonsense, compared with which that would be as sensible as a dictionary!"[1]

America, it appears to me, is now through the looking glass.

In Georgia’s Legislature a law titled “An Act to Protect Religious Freedoms” was brought forward on March 16 and passed in speedy time by both Republican-controlled sides of the general assembly. This aroused a firestorm of threats to the state of Georgia from major media companies such Disney and sports leagues namely the NFL.

They demanded the governor reject the bill or face economic sanctions. Georgia has a growing film industry and new football and baseball stadiums under construction. Georgia would stand to lose major film production opportunities as well as future Super Bowls.

The legislation literally states:

(1) “No minister of the gospel or cleric or religious practitioner ordained or authorized to solemnize marriages according to the usages of the denomination, when acting in his or her official religious capacity, shall be required to solemnize any marriage in violation of his or her right to free exercise of religion under the Constitution of this state or of the United States.”
(2) “No business or industry shall be required by ordinance or resolution of any county,
municipality, or consolidated government to operate on either of the two rest days Saturday or Sunday.”
(3) “No religious organization shall be required to rent, lease or otherwise grant permission for property to be used by another person for purposes which are objectionable to such religious organization.”

What’s so egregious about saying preachers can’t be required by law to disobey God’s Law? Should Hobby Lobby be forced to open on Sundays? Should churches, Christian schools and missionary organizations be forced to allow use their facilities for activities they believe are contrary to the tenants of the faith”?

Should preachers be forced to bless homosexual marriage ceremonies?

Should Christian schools have a right to deny groups that hate them the ability to rent their facilities? So anti Christian organizations, some call them anti-Christian corporate bigots, such as the ESPN, Disney, Marvel, Apple, Time Warner (which owns CNN, coincidentally), Intel, Salesforce, Dell, the AMC Networks, which films its hit show “The Walking Dead” in the state of Georgia, Coca-Cola, the NFL, which by the way said if the governor didn’t veto the bill Georgia would never host a Super Bowl, have all ganged up to threaten and coerce the governor to veto the bill.[2]

Imagine the reaction of the NFL if Christian Americans quit watching NFL football (on television or at games). What if Christians decided to stop using the products of these attackers and quit watching ESPN, especially its NFL football games?[3]

Our world has gone through the looking glass where the really insane people, those who think like the Red Queen, are in control of all these businesses as well as ultimately control of what the whole country is being perverted by, but not everywhere. In contrast to the wimp in Georgia who vetoed that bill is the State of Mississippi.

Mississippi’s House Bill 1523 says, among other things, that public employees, businesses and social workers cannot be punished for denying services based on the belief that marriage is strictly between a man and a woman. Same goes for people who act on the belief that “sexual relations are properly reserved to such a marriage” and that gender is determined at birth. It says the government can’t prevent businesses from firing a transgender employee, clerks from refusing to license a same-sex marriage, or adoption agencies from refusing to place a child with a couple who they believe may be committing fornication. As of Wednesday, HB 1523 has passed Mississippi’s House and Senate. And the Governor is likely to sign it.[4]

The Bible has a specific word for what we see happening, the word is lawlessness - (1 John 3:4) "Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness." Sin is more than law breaking; it is standing in rebellion against God and pledging allegiance to the forces of evil that seek to destroy the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
