SILENCE EQUALS CONSENT
By Paul Walter March 4, 2004 NewsWithViews.com Shocking pictures are emerging from Iraq of US soldiers following orders torturing Iraqi prisoners in Saddam's own torture chamber. Reported by the NY Times, ABC News, UK Guardian, AP, Drudge, just to name a few. Didn't our Christian Jesus-loving president tell us we are saving the Iraqi people from a terrible dictator who was torturing his own people? Are we becoming like the enemy we conquered? Do two wrongs make a right? According to Bloomberg News, Bush said GIs who followed orders abusing Iraqi prisoners should pay. I agree. Any public servent who follows unethical orders from his superiors should be held accountable for his or hers actions. Before the Iraq war started, Vice President Chaney sent a clear warning to the Iraqi army not to use chemical weapons on coalition forces. The excuse, 'we're only following orders' would not be accepted. I agreed with that as well. Here in Josephine County, Oregon, angry church-attending sheriff's deputies arrested a man at 1:30 in the morning over a wet shivering chicken, took him to jail naked, then asked him if he had any weapons on him. They were proud of their accomplishment. In Portland, hate-filled cops pepper sprayed a 71-year-old blind woman, knocked her down with a stun gun and not one of them got fired, not one. This 71-year-old woman is someone's mother. A jury awarded her $145,000 paid for by Oregon taxpayers. Don't the police officers realize that their own children will eventually be enslaved by the very beast they are nurturing? Didn't the Lord teach us to treat others the same way we would like to be treated? There are those in public service who will sell out their mother and country for a paycheck, then attend church service on Sunday. What's happening to America? Why is church leadership silent when abuse occurs? In Hitler's Germany cops following orders went door to door rounding up innocent little Jewish children and shipped them to extermination camps. And most of them didn't see anything wrong with what they were doing. The church leadership was silent there as well. Haven't we leaned anything from history? The people can't perceive reality. Is this why the Bible says; 'the people have eyes, yet they can't see, they have ears, yet they can't hear'? To prove my point, in Northern Ireland, Catholics and Protestants are killing each other. On Sunday they worship the same Jesus, the same God and read the same passage 'love one another as I have loved you'. Their hate has been ongoing for over 400 years, and they don't see anything wrong with what they're doing either. Spiritually speaking, they are totally blind. The hate and anger they have in their hearts has blinded them to reality, just like the cops. Don't tell me that I'm anti-law enforcement, because I'm not. I fully support the good and decent police officers, just not the mean, angry, hateful ones. Police officers use to be kind and helpful. People use to love and respect them. What happened? Their motto went from "Protect and Serve" to "We'll Kick Your Ass." Police states rise when good people allow evil to continue unchecked. The Bible says to rebuke evil, it doesn't say to keep quiet. An American police state is coming. Speak up while you still can. 2004 Paul Walter - All Rights Reserved
