Will America survive?
Growing up in America in the 1950’s I never thought that I would see America in the condition that it is in today. I always believed that honest men were in office and their number one priority was the preservation of this great nation. People had tried to show me that this wasn’t the case and for the most part I ignored what they said.
About fifteen years ago I became involved in politics and the only reason I did this was because I was raised to be aware of what is going on in my community, city, State and nation. This was drilled into me by my stepfather who was a LEGAL immigrant from Greece. He believed that it was each individual’s responsibility to be involved in the governing of our city, State and nation. This was the concept of our Founders as well. Politics never was intended to be a carrier. This is what made America great. Any individual could be placed in a position of authority for a period of time and help direct the prosperity of his city, county or state.
This concept has been mostly forgotten in the last 75 years as we have people that have been in Congress for up to forty years. What this has allowed is a group of dynasties that have little by little began to usurp our political system to the point where we no longer have the system given to us by the Founders. Mark Twain once commented: “If voting would change things, they wouldn’t let us do it.” I’m not advocating that we don’t vote. I believe that we all should vote and YES, even if it’s for the lesser of two evils. Think about it. Jesus Christ isn’t running for office so we have never had anything but the lesser of two evils to vote for. The presidential election of 2012 gave us the second term of Barak Obama and it is 100% the fault of evangelicals that refused to vote for a Mormon. Fifty five million registered evangelicals were registered to vote but less than fifteen million voted. I believe that God would have preferred a Moran in the White House over a Muslim. I know I’ll get a lot of flak for saying that but those of you who did not vote because one candidate was a Mormon have no excuse for not voting. Period. Obama only won by five million votes. Forty million evangelicals didn’t vote! He could have easily been defeated had the church done what God expected of them.
We have seen this nation be led to a point where we will not be able to maintain what our Founders gave us for much longer unless we change directions. The Democrats have two socialists running that have applauded the policies of Venezuela which is in economic chaos and collapse. Bernie Sanders has even lauded the economic policies of Greece which is in the same condition. Our colleges and universities no longer teach the truth about socialism nor do they site all the failed nations under socialism. I was talking to a college ‘graduate’ a couple weeks ago about this and pointed out that the USSR is no longer under that system for the most part because it bankrupted them and his response was that it was never really proven that they were socialists. Really! Union of Soviet SOCIALISTS Republic may not have been socialists? This is what they call a college ‘education’.
America used to be #1 in education worldwide. We are now 36th. “There has been no shortage of sound and fury about the recently released education rankings from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). Every three years, the organization tests 15-year-olds from across the globe, comparing results from about 60 nations. As soon as the scores from the latest exam were released last month, Americans began wringing their hands over the results.
At the top of the heap were the usual suspects from East Asia: Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, and three Chinese cities—Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Macao. The United States came in 36th, trailing nations such as Estonia and the Slovak Republic. The national consensus, articulated in a New York Times editorial, was that America’s students are falling “further and further behind.”[1] “American 15-year-olds continue to turn in flat results in a test that measures students’ proficiency in reading, math and science worldwide, failing to crack the global top 20.
The Program for International Student Assessment, or PISA, collects test results from 65 countries for its rankings, which come out every three years. The latest results, from 2012, show that U.S. students ranked below average in math among the world’s most-developed countries. They were close to average in science and reading. “In mathematics, 29 nations and other jurisdictions outperformed the United States by a statistically significant margin, up from 23 three years ago,” reports Education Week. “In science, 22 education systems scored above the U.S. average, up from 18 in 2009.”[2]
This is a far cry from an educational system that was putting kids into Yale and Harvard at the age of fourteen. The Founders believed that education was of high priority. They also believed that religion was a necessary component of education. Benjamin Rush stated: “The only foundation for a useful education in a republic is to be laid in religion. Without this there can be no virtue, and without virtue there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of all republican governments.”[3] The Founders believed that even our judicial system should be intertwined with religion. James Wilson, one of the original justices appointed to the US Supreme Court, stated “Far from being rivals or enemies, religion and law are twin sisters, friends, and mutual assistants. Indeed, these two sciences run into each other. The divine law, as discovered by reason and the moral sense, forms an essential part of both.”
Noah Webster, “Father of American Scholarship and Education”, stated “Every child in America should be acquainted with his own country. He should read books that furnish him with ideas that will be useful to him in life and practice. As soon as he opens his lips, he should rehearse the history of his own country.” This is not being done in this nation today. It is actually illegal to teach the real history of America to our kids in public schools simply because there is so much religion intertwined in that history. It should be against the law to NOT teach our real history in our schools.
Kids aren’t taught about the Constitution or the Bill of Rights and consequently they don’t know what they’re rights are. They don’t know they have the right to pray in school, no matter what the ACLU says. This is our history and most kids don’t know it. I wrote a book titled Defining America’s Exceptionalism so that this history would not be forgotten and a public school teacher who read it told me that it would never be allowed in a public school, even though it is an accurate reading of our history! How can a nation exist if its history is never told to the upcoming generations?[4]
The church that I grew up in discouraged involvement in politics because it has become so corrupt but John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court stated “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest, of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.” Because the church has stayed away from the political arena we have ungodly men and women that are controlling what we do, how we do it and are working on denying us the right to even practice our faith!
Hillary Clinton has even told us that our ‘deep seated beliefs must be changed: Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed” to allow women access to “reproductive health care” – which was widely seen as a call to change views on abortion.”[5]
The price that the Founders paid for the freedoms that we are letting slip through our hands is something that kids today have no concept of. John Jay declared: “Let the American youth never forget, that they possess a noble inheritance, bought by the toils, and sufferings, and blood of their ancestors; and capacity, if wisely improved, and faithfully guarded, of transmitting to their latest posterity all the substantial blessings of life, the peaceful enjoyment of liberty, property, religion, and independence.”[6] Unless we wake up to the fact that this election will determine whether we get a vastly left leaning Supreme Court for the next 25 years and the loss of many of our freedoms, free speech, right to bear arms and I would even say the sovereignty of America or we stem the slide down the path towards national socialism and regain a lot of the status in the world that we have lost because of Obama’s policies, foreign, domestic and economic. Are we prepared for the demise of America?
Will we fight for our way of life? Will the church wake up?
