BE
NOT DECEIVED
By
Pastor Roger Anghis Foundation Scripture: “Luke 21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.” Because we are in the last days we need to be very careful as to whom we listen. Jesus told us that there is a chance for us to be deceived. Satan is an expert at it and is working overtime because he knows that his time is very short. We have seen many in the last twenty years that convinced people that they were the messiah or at least they had a better way. Jim Jones at one time took his Bible and threw it on the floor in front of his pulpit and said ‘I don’t need this anymore.’ That would have been a good time to leave! Any preacher that says he doesn’t need the Word of God anymore is a danger to the people listening to him and Jones is a good example of that. Then there was David Karesh in Waco, TX. He even convinced the people that he was the one that was to have sex with a woman even if she was married! Both of these men were doing things that was contrary to the teaching of the Word yet people believed every word they said. The only reason I can see for this happening is because those that followed them did not read and/or understand the Word of God. Even today we have fools in the pulpit. Obama’s former pastor, Jerimiah Wright, preached black liberation theology which is a combination of Marxism and communism sprinkled with a little scripture to make it sound good. One pastor just recently stated that if the church continues to stand for traditional marriage that it was going to become irrelevant. Even Hillary Clinton has stated that the church needs to lose its long held beliefs of traditional marriage. Jesus, again, warns us about these kinds of people: Matthew 24:24 “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” We see that even the so-called educated are not very smart. A few years back I ran across an article about something called the Jesus Seminar. The only purpose I can see in this for this organization is to deceive the population concerning the things of Jesus. If they can make you question one of two things about Jesus there is a good chance you may question everything about Jesus. In the article I read it stated: “A new generation of Jesus scholars stepped forward in the 1990’s with provocative, headline-grabbing claims. Among them: Christ wasn’t born a virgin, didn’t rise bodily from the dead and didn’t utter more than 80% of the sayings attributed to Him in the New Testament.” Here we have supposedly intelligent people coming up with claims like these that will make a non-believer question really anything about what is taught concerning Jesus and that is just what the enemy wants. Here is a except from and article about the Jesus Seminar: “The Jesus Seminar was organized in 1985 to renew the quest of the historical Jesus and to report the results of its research to the general public, rather than just to a handful of gospel specialists. Initially, the goal of the Seminar was to review each of the sayings and deeds attributed to Jesus in the gospels and determine which of them could be considered authentic. Thirty scholars took up the challenge at the initial meeting in Berkeley, California. Eventually more than 200 professionally trained specialists, called Fellows, joined the group at various phases. As the editors of the Seminar’s 1993 book The Five Gospels explain in their Preface, the Fellows of the Jesus Seminar represent a wide array of Western religious traditions and academic institutions. They have been trained in the best universities in North America and Europe. The Seminar met twice a year to debate technical papers that were prepared and circulated in advance. At the close of debate on each agenda item, Fellows voted using colored beads to indicate the degree of authenticity of the words and deeds attributed to Jesus in the gospels. Dropping colored beads into a box soon became a trademark of the Jesus Seminar. Among the findings is that, in the judgment of the Jesus Seminar Fellows, about 18 percent of the sayings and 16 percent of the deeds attributed to Jesus in the gospels are authentic.”[1] All of these men have a good education but the problem with education is, if you don’t have wisdom, your education is worthless and the only source for wisdom is God! Some may question that but that is how a person can spend 10 years becoming a doctor and then spend his carrier performing abortions! Educated but has no wisdom. The men behind this insane pack of lies uses subtlety to gain people’s confidence. He states “I see part of my vocation as building a bridge between parts of the church that are oftentimes not in conversation with each other.” This concept sounds good but what he is using to ‘bridge the gap’ are outright lies. He was raised in a denominational church, as I was, and he began to question his faith. I know that feeling as I did the same thing but what I experienced was a preacher would teach something and then I would study what he taught using his scripture references and not coming up with the same message. I questioned the preacher but believed the Word. This man questioned Christianity because of what he called ‘historical impossibilities’ that are described in scripture. There is the problem. He thinks they are impossible. Isaiah 55:9 states: “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Here’s where wisdom kicks in. If God’s ways are higher than ours then maybe, just maybe, He can do things that are beyond our comprehension. After all, He did create everything that we can see, hear, smell and touch. To me this is common sense. After years of searching he found a denomination that ‘worked’ for him, Episcopalian. Now, I don’t like to slam denominations but this one has no problem ordaining a practicing homosexual! That would be the same as ordaining a heterosexual who is sleeping with half the choir. You have no relationship with God when you refuse to accept the parameters set down by God. You can’t make up your own. Paul warned us about what we would see in the last days: 2Timothy 4:3 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;” . When we do not know what is in scripture we won’t be able to tell when a preacher or someone else is telling us a lie. The early settlers initiated a law in 1642 in Massachusetts called the Old Deluder Satan Act that required parents to educate their children so they could read and understand the Word of God because they believed that most of the problems created by government throughout the ages was because there was ignorance of the Word of God. “The first laws providing public education for all children were passed in 1642 in Massachusetts and in 1647 in Connecticut and it was called the “Old Deluder Satan Law”. These colonists believed that the proper protection from civil abuses could only be achieved by eliminating Bible illiteracy.
“It being one chief project of that old deluder, Satan, to keep men from the knowledge of Scriptures, as in former time. . . . It is therefore ordered . . [that] after the Lord hath increased [the settlement] to the number of fifty householders, [they] shall then forthwith appoint one within their town, to teach all such children as shall resort to him, to write and read. . . . And it is further ordered, that where any town shall increase to the number of one hundred families or householders, they shall set up a grammar school . . . to instruct youths, so far as they may be fitted for the university.”[2] Click here for part -----> 1, 2, Footnotes: All Scripture is from the KJV unless otherwise noted. 1.
