WILL AMERICAN CHRISTIANS USE SOUND JUDGMENT WHEN THEY VOTE?

President Obama and the Democratic Party believe that the redistribution of wealth is the best approach to helping the poor and needy in America. However, there are many examples that would refute the idea that redistribution of wealth is the manner in which the poor and needy should be helped in America. Some of the main examples are:

1. In Matthew 26: 7-11, Jesus Christ made a statement about the poor. It occurred when a woman was going to wash His feet and put expensive perfume on them. Jesus said,

There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.
But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is his waste?
For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

Ultimately, as these scriptures indicate, Jesus proclaimed that there would always be poor on the earth. As a result, the poor people in a nation would need some type of help to survive. But, that help should not be through the redistribution of wealth by the federal government. Instead, it should be accomplished through the Spirit-led efforts of the “Christian Church.” Unfortunately, many Christian Churches have failed to meet the needs of all those struggling citizens in their local communities, since much of the revenue of churches is used for operational expenses. In turn, the government has taken over the role of churches and has sponsored welfare-type programs to help the needy, which has been funded by America’s unfair tax system. In fact, this system could very well be named the “Robin Hood Syndrome,” since much is taken from those that have through high taxation so that those that do not have may obtain more pieces of the economic pie. Needless to say, this redistribution of wealth would not be part of God’s provision for His creation, especially since the rich have to put a higher percentage of their income in the government coffers than the poor. Since God requires only 10 percent for the church tithe from the rich and the poor, it should be good enough for the government, too. However, it isn’t acceptable to the government, since it wants to provide the poor with more than their basic needs. The government also desires to provide the poor with their wants, too. For example, providing cell phones to less fortunate people, as the government already does, is not a necessity. Ergo, what might the government purchase next for those who have not? Could it be a new car or possibly a new house that those that work would have to pay for through the government’s unfair, progressive tax system? Only time will tell.

2. The colony of Jamestown, Virginia was established in 1607. When the colony was first established, it had one main problem. According to A BEKA Books United States History in Christian Perspective,

Jamestown’s biggest problem was the common-store system established by its charter. Under this communal system, each man was required to place the fruit of his labor in a common storehouse, and each was entitled to receive food and supplies from the storehouse according to his needs. In reality, the industrious workers were required to provide for the idle. With everyone benefitting from the common storehouse but few contributing to it, the food supply was quickly depleted. America’s first experiment with a form of communism failed miserably.

Therefore, as stated, Jamestown’s attempt to use a common-store system or socialism as a viable economic system did not work. But, what did eventually work as a viable economic system for the early English colonists? Also, according to A BEKA Books,

The key reason for Virginia’s new prosperity was a chance in the basic economic system. Recognizing the failure of communal living, the leaders of Jamestown abandoned the common-store system and gave each man a parcel of land on which he could produce his own food. In essence, Jamestown adopted a system of private enterprise (capitalism). Under a capitalistic system, individuals are free to make a living and prosper on their own enterprise (initiative)…Private enterprise would become a cornerstone of America’s greatness.

Hence, Christians should not support politicians that purport the redistribution of wealth and the elimination of capitalism in America. It did not work during colonial days and it will not work effectively now. It will only get America more in debt and create a quality of life that is not normally associated with the greatest nation in the world.

3. America has been a Christian nation since its Founding Fathers established it over two hundred years ago. In fact, John Jay, the first Supreme Court Judge, stated, “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers. Hence, as America became a god-fearing Christian nation and elected Christians to represent the people and the nation, it has been blessed abundantly by God. However, since the 1960s, many of America’s elected and appointed leaders have not been true Christians, that is, Christians who actually live their lives according to God’s commandments in his Holy Word (actions speak louder than words). As a result, they have led America down a long dark road of rebellion against the very God that had made America the most prosperous and most powerful nation in the world. Of course, as this rebellion against God has continued, America’s wheels of progress and power have begun to slow down tremendously, almost to the point of coming to a halt.

Therefore, in order to get America’s wheels of progress to drive it toward prosperity again, it must first elect leaders who pray to God before they make any decisions that affect the people who they were elected to represent. However, America’s leaders now are led by the drumbeat of atheistic, secular humanism, an ideology that puts man ahead of God. Of course, any person who has ever read the Old Testament of the Bible knows what happened at the Tower of Babel: the people were dispersed because they thought that they were more powerful that God. Sadly, America’s leaders have adopted some of the same ungodly ideas. This is the reason America is breaking at the seams. In fact, President Obama has stated more than once that America is no longer a Christian nation. How many Christians do you know that go around bragging about America not being a Christian nation? Why would a President of the United States who professes to a belief and faith in Jesus Christ have the audacity to proclaim such an blasphemous statement? Possibly, like many politicians who attempt to get Christians to vote for them at election time, President Obama might just be a CINO, a Christian in Name Only. But, should a Christian vote for a politician who says he or she is a Christian when his or her actions prove otherwise. Ultimately, should a Christian vote for a CINO, a Christian in Name Only, or a non-Christian? The answer is “no.”

But, who should a Christian vote for in any election? What standard or litmus test should be used to determine if a person is qualified to lead a Christian nation? Of course, the only standard to use is the Bible. According to Vine and Fig Tree .org, “If the Bible says that all politicians must be Christians, then it logically follows that Christians can only vote for candidates who are Christian. In either case, the Bible ought to change the way Christians do politics.” As a result, the following scriptures give the Biblical requirement for politicians. They are as follows:

Exodus 18:21 Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. Deuteronomy 1:15 So I took the heads of your tribes, wise and knowledgeable men, and made them heads over you, leaders of thousands, leaders of hundreds, leaders of fifties, leaders of tens, and officers for your tribes.

Deuteronomy 16:18-20 You shall appoint judges and officers in all your gates, which the LORD your God gives you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with just judgment. You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous. You shall follow what is altogether just, that you may live and inherit the land which the LORD your God is giving you.

1 Timothy 3:1-7 This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of an overseer, he desires a good work. An overseer then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Titus 1:5-9 For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you; if a man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of dissipation or insubordination. For an overseer must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled, holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict.

Therefore, Christians should take these scriptures at heart and vote for men and or women who best exemplify these Biblical standards in their lives. Unfortunately, there are probably no candidates that even come close to meeting most of these Biblical requirements for Christian leaders. As a result, Christians are at a point in their lives that they might have to vote against the incumbent more so than voting for his challenger in the 2012 General Election.

Of course, if they choose to vote for the incumbent over the challenger, that is their personal right as an American citizen. But, regardless of who they vote for, they should definitely use the Biblical standards litmus test as a guide in their effort to use sound judgment in the upcoming 2012 Presidential and Congressional Election. However, if America does not replace America’s godless, secular humanist politicians with god-fearing Christians soon, America will take one step closer to becoming a full-fledged, socialist, welfare state. It will also take one step closer to achieving its futuristic goal of becoming a charter member of the New World Order and giving up America’s sovereignty to the United Nations.
