IMMIGRATION SHUTDOWN NOW: ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT DISASTER

Part 4: Ecological footprint, destruction of wilderness, impact on land and animals, quality of life

You’ve heard the adage, “You can’t cheat Mother Nature. She always bats last.” Whether she creates a Hurricane Katrina or a severe drought in California, Mother Nature plays by her own rules. She can let us live or snuff us out.

Thus, the more Americans impacting our environment, the more the environment struggles with “Ecological Footprint.” William Rees created the term in 1992 from his research on the impact of humans on a given amount of land.

For example, with 8.3 million Americans living in New York City, they impact the environment more than 100 rangers and crew operating in Rocky Mountain National Park near my home in Colorado.

First of all, let’s understand that America faces an added 100,000,000 (million) legal immigrants within the next 30 years “if” we fail to stop mass immigration by using our voices to force Congress to change course. Every person reading this series understands the incredible impact of that number from reading my previous work, especially “Tragedy of the Commons” and “Overshoot into the Future.”

I am willing to bet that this series will prove the death knoll of the United States as a sustainable and stable civilization as we steam into the consequences by adding that 100 million more legal immigrants. Or, enough citizens understand what’s coming and demand a change in our immigration laws: Thus, the slogan “Immigration Shutdown Now.”

Other than my readership, most Americans don’t understand the underlying ramifications because everything looks “just fine” right now. In fact, most Americans don’t hold a clue as to what’s coming—much like the passengers on the Titanic. They continued dancing two hours after the iceberg collision. It wasn’t until the last two hours before it sank that everyone understood his or her dire predicament.

Same with Americans in 2015! We think water, energy and resources will remain plentiful forever. As you read this series, you know we all face a different reality with another 100 million legal immigrants.

Okay, what constitutes an “Ecological Footprint”? For an example, Ethiopia housed 35 million people in 1980. Today, at 94 million, they expect to grow to 130-140 million by 2050. It’s called “population momentum”, i.e., like a brakeless car racing down a hill at 60 miles per hour with no way to stop—it increases its speed. Population momentum increases as numbers rise.

Today, one Ethiopian uses .4 acres of land to live a primitive life. But when he or she immigrates to the United States, their “Ecological Footprint” jumps to 25.4 acres. Why? Answer: they move into a house with a furnace, electricity, water, fans, microwave, hot shower, air conditioning, iron, washer-dryer, shaving and curling irons. That single person must be fed, new home, new roads, new schools, malls, sewage treatment plants, more coal and gas to heat and transport him or her.

Their “Ecological Footprint” jumps from .4 acres to over 25.4 acres—or more than 50 times the impact they once caused the planet.

Now, understand that we remain on course to add 100,000,000 (million) legal immigrants from Africa and around the world. Why? Because they destroyed their countries with their burgeoning 80 million more of themselves every year to such a degree that they flee(d) their countries to come to America for a better life. The third world loves using America, Canada, Australia and Europe for a “human exhaust valve” to allow them to keep procreating 80,000,000 new babies annually with no responsibility for the outcome.

Multiple 100,000,000 legal immigrants X’s 25.4 acres of American land. That equals 2.54 billion acres of American land that must be destroyed to service those 100 million people.

Now ask yourself the question: how will that make our already air-polluted cities better? How will it decrease gridlocked traffic? How will it ease acid rain? How will it improve our current extinction rate of 250 species annually here in the USA? (Source: Department of the Interior) How will that 100 million immigrants improve our quality of life and our standard of living? How will that number improve our available water, energy and resources?

You’re scratching your head with the question: what in the heck are we doing to ourselves and our children?

Realize this fact: once that 100 million legal immigrants lands on our shores, they become our problem. We must feed them, house them, clothe them, educate them, transport them, work them and so much more with so much less. In the process, we lost 2.54 billion acres of land to concrete, asphalt, steel, glass and another 80 to 100 million more vehicles on our roads. We increased our consumption and pollution rates by 100 million times.

Question: where do the animals go? Where do they find habitat to live and procreate their own kind? Where does the grizzly, elk, bald eagle, sand hill crane and other divine creates flee to survive?

Do we want another 100 million immigrants? Can we sustain them and still sustain ourselves and our fellow creatures?

The sobering and point blank answer: not a snowball’s chance in hell! We face becoming a third world country ourselves. As Forrest Gump’s mother said, “Stupid is as stupid does.”

In the forthcoming parts of this series, you will see the environmental, resource and sociological consequences we face. None of it pretty! It all devolves into irreversible consequences and unsolvable problems.

That’s why we need an “Immigration Shutdown Now”.
