In my last column, you witnessed in the video the insidious proliferation of plastics throughout the world. You saw graphically how trillions of plastics feed into living creatures and ultimately stuff their guts—killing them.
As you could see in the video, the stakes become ever more dangerous as we turn the food chain into a deadly plastic-filled rubbish chain. All of life feeds off the oceans.
All of it could be stopped by a few simple deposit-return laws voted into law by countries around the world. But here in America, not one governor, U.S. senator or House rep has taken action. Most of the American public could care less. When we visually see what we’re doing to the natural world, we recoil, but we don’t take any action. Those in power don’t take any action.
For someone like me who has seen it via my scuba diving and travels around the world, it’s pretty depressing and really disgusting if not sickening. In this column, you may watch several other videos that will sober you to the long term aspects of plastics.
This five minute video brings it to your attention
You might ask yourself why we humans promote such deadly products, but take no responsibility for the outcome. Why hasn’t anyone take action to stop this carnage of the natural world?
This short video may fill you with anger
But again, what will you do about it? Probably nothing. We seem to have lost our sense of integrity, personal accountability and responsibility in this once conscientious society. We once recycled all soda pop bottles for .5 cents. We never saw plastics before 1960.
In this video, Capt. Charles Moore shocks with the unbelievable results of loading our oceans with plastic products
Finally, if you take time, you will see a detailed account of our long term damage to the entire natural world by watching: Captain Charles Moore - Saving Our Oceans from Plastic.
What’s the point of my bringing this to you? Fact remains: 99 percent of journalists and the Main Stream Media will not bring it to you. They choose to ignore it. They choose to let it become so bad that it becomes so destructive that it can’t be solved.
Did you wince when you heard that Americans utilize two million plastic bottles every five minutes? Do you know that over 70 percent of those plastic bottles get tossed anywhere and everywhere in the environment?
Additionally, our US Congress via Senate Bill 744 may pass legislation that will add 100 million third world immigrants within the next 37 years and guess what—they will be tossing those plastic containers at an ever greater rate of speed into the natural world.
None of it will end well for the natural world and none of it will end well for all human beings not only in the United States, but around the world. Those plastics will infect and infest our food supply and ultimately get into our systems. It’s inevitable.
Added to the pile of crap we inject into the natural world, when you dump in the 80,000 man-made chemicals that we inject into the land, air and water 24/7, you cannot help but appreciate that our poisoned world will most certainly turn back on us with a vengeance.
In the past 10 months, no less than nine of my dear friends contracted cancers of all kinds. Why? They eat foods with herbicides, insecticides, chemical fertilizers and a myriad of additives from colored dyes to excite-toxins. They all battle for their lives. One already died.
Will an expose’ column like this turn the tide of our foolishness, our insanity and our outright disregard for the natural world? I doubt it, but I must try to alert this nation to our enormous folly and ultimate outcome.
What can you do? Take action, speak up, organize and push the issues like Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, Dolly Madison, Martha Washington, Abe Lincoln, Susan B. Anthony, ML King, Dwight Eisenhower, John Muir, Emerson, Thoreau and others who saw wrong in the world and decided to change it.
