Dear Secretary Collins,
Don’t Throw the Baby Out With the Bath Water
I have read your statements pledging to benefit Veteran’s Care. Much of what you have done is beneficial and I am sure is in good faith. But, you can’t continue the terror felt by most employees forever. It is demoralizing. You must return to normal allowing local officials to correct errors of “Your One Program Fits All “ it doesn’t. You are losing both new and existing employees to higher paid employment elsewhere and the VA suffers. .
Let me make this clear. I voted for Trump and support most of his efforts in my writing. Most Veterans are MAGA supporters but if you harm the greatest health care system in the world they will turn on you with a vengeance.
The James A. Haley hospital here in Tampa gives far better care than any other hospital in the area and I will never go anywhere else. There is one problem, I must schedule my heart attacks during the week because VA Cath Lab is not staffed on the weekend, why.?
Last week I had a serious health issue requiring an ambulance. The crew wanted to take me to a closer hospital because they didn’t think I could make it to the VA, but I insisted. I spent 3 Days in Intense Care with dedicated and really caring nurses. This is just one example of how dedicated I am to the VA and how hard Veterans will fight for the VA which was promised upon enlistment.
No one at the VA asked me to write to you or even knows that I did. This letter is based solely on my observations and dedication to the VA.
I am a 91 year old legally blind disabled veteran on dialysis.
God Bless You and the Republic
