My driver license expires on September 12, 2024. So, this morning I got up at 5 a.m. and dressed and drove to the Department of Motor Vehicles. I had received a notice in the mail that if I wanted a “Real ID,” I had to bring my Social Security card, my birth certificate, proof of residence, i.e. the deed to my home, electric bill, etc., my voter’s card and my driver’s license. I had all those things including my checkbook.
The “Real ID” allows you in federal buildings and on airplanes. Without it or a passport, no dice.
I arrived at 7:45 and there was already a line of ten people outside the door waiting for the 8 a.m. opening. I walked in, took a number and it was called a bit later. I gave the woman all the pertinent information and she obviously found out by plugging in my social security number that I had been married previously. My sweetheart and I have lived here in Tennessee for 38 years, I have renewed my driver’s license once here and never went through this before. We have been married over 40 years.
The woman told me that I couldn’t get a “Real ID” without having the certificates of marriage from previous marriage(s). I looked at her like she’d lost her ever loving mind and said, “Lady, I stopped kissing frogs over 40 years ago, and I have no idea of the previous dates of marriage or for that matter of the years.” She said I had to go back to the Illinois County I was married in and get the licenses. I told her there is no one alive who even could tell me what day or month it was I married previously. I knew the year on one, but not the dates.
She asked if I had a passport. I said yes, but it is expired. Now you know that you have to go through all the same things to get a passport, so if I’ve had a passport and I still have the expired passport, why won’t they take that. “We can’t,” was her answer.
“Lady,” I said, “This brain-dead fool in our white house is flying illegal aliens all over our country. He is even going to foreign countries and picking up the terrorists Trump threw out of our country and bringing them back. They don’t have “Real IDs” and they have no driver license, no birth certificate, no voting card, and no residence proof, but they are getting on our U.S. planes.” She gave me a look and said, “I’m sorry, we have to prove you are who you say you are and this is what we require.”
When I got back home, I picked up the phone and called my congressman’s office, one Tim Burchett. I actually got a gal on the phone who had just gotten married and had been through this in D.C. She told me that every state has different rules and the Real ID is a federal law which will go into effect in 2025.
Here is the information according to the Department of Homeland Security:
Starting May 7, 2025, US residents 18 and older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or state-issued enhanced driver’s license to board domestic flights. REAL IDs are marked with a gold star and have security features that make them hard to copy. State-issued enhanced driver’s licenses are also acceptable and are marked with a flag. You can use an interactive tool to see if you’re REAL ID ready, or check if your driver’s license or ID has a star or flag, or says “Enhanced”.
If you’re not REAL ID ready, you can visit your local DMV to learn more and make a plan to get one. You can also use other acceptable forms of identification to fly, such as a passport, birth certificate, or other original or certified document. If your name on your proof of identity is different from your name on other documents, you’ll need to provide a legal name change document.
If the DMV wouldn’t accept my birth certificate for a “Real ID” driver’s license, why would they accept it to get on an airplane? And just what other “certified documents” are acceptable?
All that sounds lovely and so easy, but it is not. You cannot use just your birth certificate according to what I was told today. So, they really aren’t settled on how they’re going to fix this law. I would surmise they may push the date forward with over 10 million new voters having crossed our borders within the last three and one-half years.
Conclusion
My husband went on the internet and renewed my driver’s license for the next eight years without the “Real ID.” Fine. I went on the internet and renewed my expired passport, which will take twelve weeks. Needless to say, in order to drive I had to have the plain old driver’s license I’ve had since I was a teenager. When the passport arrives, I will march over to the DMV once again and present every single document I have in my possession that proves exactly who I am, where I live and that I am an authentic US citizen.
The NGOs that are causing these invasions like IOM, HIAS, Catholic Charities and so many more are also taking over governments. The NGOs and United Nations are vital for this “Global Compact for Migration.” Illegals will quickly gain documents that only U.S. citizens should have.
And here we are. American citizens having to prove our very existence in order to even have a driver’s license while non-citizen illegal aliens are handed citizenship and luxuries on a platter.
Where is the outcry?
Our so-called Representatives in this once great Republic are silent.
