Tallahassee Eyes Arresting Citizens for “Harassing” Election Officials

Although there has never been a reported case of anyone harassing an election official in Florida, somehow, after the problems with the current administrators, Secretary of State, Cord Byrd, and Administrator of Elections, Maria Matthews were made public, the legislators felt the need for such a bill. Funny that.

The proposed legislation enables an election worker to decide what might constitute “harassment”. The proposed penalties for violation of HB721, include imprisonment. This bill has now been fast-tracked to the state Senate for approval.

REALLY?

Florida, like most states, already has a law against harassment on the books, and it is the responsibility of law enforcement to attend to such complaints when they arise. There is NO need for another harassment law, except for one — to scare citizens away from looking into Florida’s elections.

The threat of jail time; being attacked in your own home and dragged away, in front of family and neighbors; your legal firearms confiscated and DeSantis’s Red Flag Law being invoked against you; finding, hiring and affording legal counsel to defend you against the state; and the complete life-changing misery that would be felt by a good person placed in this situation. . .. THIS is what Tallahassee is counting on, to keep election fraud under wraps.

We aready know that massive irregularities in voter rolls have been proven and, thanks to ordinary citizens, are being rectified. A number of the Supervisors of Elections were not happy about this.

Since seeking the truth is only against the law in totalitarian societies, Floridians have a problem. It seems like the bright red veneer of that once “good red state” is peeling away, and what’s underneath is looking less like America and more like a totalitarian society.

Cord Byrd and Maria Matthews are in obvious violation of the ordinances concerning electioins which govern their jobs . Their responsibilities include registering only citzens to vote, and ensuring safe and secure election equipment through annual checks according to national standards. Those machine security checks have been called “horribly substandard” by the nation’s leading expert in the field.

As to the proof of citizenship to register to vote? Maria Matthews removed the checkbox for declaration of citizenship, in 2019, and has required every employee at every motor vehicle licensing center to provide a voter registration form to any and all comers. That was the first year of DeSantis’s first term.

Thus, Byrd and Matthews were asked by the Florida Republican Assembly to resign. That is what started this firestorm of proposed legislation against “harassment”.

Speaking of DeSantis, where IS he on all this? He is supposedly re-inivolved in matters of Florida, yet he has said nothing about this clearly unconstitutional bill which takes the definition of a “crime” away from existing law and creates a protected class of election officials who can decide on what constitutes a violation. It can only be assumed that he agrees with it. After all, he never found a problem with the J6 Purge…

God bless you, Florida. You got your awol governor back, and now, this. You have a VERY serious issue here. When combined with the infighting among conservatives, your wonderful state is moving along the road to destruction, and becoming another California……(ugh…sorry, I know, but I’m trying to light some fires here…:)

Light up every phone line and twitter (aka, “X”) acount and tell those ELECTED TO REPRESENT YOU that this does NOT> Get out there and make some noise! Tell everyone in every state what is happening to you.

While you’re at it, remind them to be VERY grateful that DeGov is probably never going to be their POTUS!
